So the set is now up for pre-order! As a reminder, it includes three of Reichardt's feature films - Old Joy, Wendy & Lucy, and Meek's Cutoff - in HD, plus her debut film River of Grass in SD. The release is to coincide with the cinematic release of her new film Night Moves on 29th August.

The Kelly Reichardt Collection

Amazon pre-order:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Kelly-Re...dp/B00LC02ISY/

Also upcoming from Soda Pictures is The Jim Jarmusch Collection (6-film set) in October and Jennifer Baichwal & Edward Burtynsky's Watermark in November, amongst some others.

A little expensive so I will wait for a lower price, but very excited to get Old Joy on blu. What a wonderful film about male relationships and the stigmas placed upon them by society. (If anyone is interested Louis C.K. did a varation on this theme in a third season episode of Louie called Miami.)

Also Wendy and Lucy contains, IMO, Michelle Williams' best performance in her looooong string of depressing roles.

Haven't caught Meek's Cutoff yet but it's a priority.

Fully confirmed specs for this set:

Quote:
This essential collection brings together Kelly Reichardt's debut RIVER OF GRASS (1994) and the three films OLD JOY (2006), WENDY AND LUCY (2008) and MEEK'S CUTOFF (2010) that established her as one of the most important auteurs in modern American independent cinema.

OLD JOY (2006)
OLD JOY is the story of two old friends, Kurt (WILL OLDHAM) and Mark (DANIEL LONDON), who reunite for a weekend camping trip in the mountains of Oregon. The trip signifies different things for them – for Mark a respite from imminent fatherhood, for Kurt a part of a long series of adventures. As the trip progresses and the landscape changes, the friends begin to examine their lives and their friendship. “Exquisite, achingly beautiful” - LA WEEKLY
SPECIAL FEATURES
• River Of Grass (75 mins, 480i) - Kelly Reichardt's debut film, never released before in the UK (with optional English subtitles)
• “Old Joy" - original short story by Jon Raymond

Aspect ratio: 16:9 / Running time: 73 mins / 1080p / Colour / 23.976hz / Audio: English LPCM Stereo / Subtitles: English

WENDY & LUCY (2008)
WENDY & LUCY is the story of Wendy (Oscar-nominated MICHELLE WILLIAMS, Blue Valentine), who is driving to Alaska in hope of a summer of lucrative work and the start of a new life with her dog, Lucy. When her car breaks down in Oregon, however, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she finds herself desperately searching for her only true friend. Starring Kelly Reichardt’s own beloved dog as Lucy. “Pure poetry” - TOTAL FILM
SPECIAL FEATURES
• Kelly Reichardt: In Conversation (73 mins, audio) - a comprehensive retrospective Q&A with Kelly recorded at University of Oxford in May 2014
• “Train Choir" - original short story by Jon Raymond

MEEK’S CUTOFF (2010)
MEEK’S CUTOFF tells the story of Emily Tetherow (MICHELLE WILLIAMS), a young pioneer who sets out with her husband and families in 1845 along the infamous Oregon trail. Led by Stephen Meek, the families are soon lost and start to mistrust each other and their guide. After days of wandering in the inhospitable landscape, they cross paths with a Native American and must decide if they can trust this man to lead them to safety. “MASTERFUL” - THE GUARDIAN

Good news indeed! Even though I have MEEK'S CUTOFF (which made my Top Ten of the year list) on blu I will purchase the set. Lokks like some decent extras including here debut film. Can't wait to see her newest film NIGHT MOVES too!

Excellent! From the quality of that recent Pulp documentary package (saw them in hand yesterday) and the Chris Marker set (bought recently) I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this set. Dare I say digipack? Same for the Jarmusch set?

Yes, the Reichardt set will be a Digipak. More details on the Jarmusch set near the end of August.

Tarantino supposedly hated Meek's Cutoff, didn't he? There's a reason if there ever was to pick this up. I actually thought my DVD was dodgy at first, because of the 1.33 : 1 framing. Had no idea it was filmed that way until I had read more about it after watching. Such a great film. I haven't seen any of Reichardt's other films, so I can't wait for this set.

The man who made Django Unchained hated Meek's Cutoff? Fair enough. Completely apples and oranges there.

Excellent! In a slipbox or loose like the SoFa releases? Also looking forward to Watermark, I remember seeing Manufactured Landscapes years ago and it giving me chills. Loving what Soda are doing at the moment

Jealous that Wendy and Lucy is on blu...but not in the US.

I guess I could import, but Meek's Cutoff was pretty bad.

Ha! At those bargain prices, no-one's officially allowed to have any complaints about the discs' contents, even if they're valid

For those of you who don't mind spending a few quid more, if you buy them (and any other Soda Blu-Rays, for that matter) from our official online shop then we get more of the proceeds and are more inclined to release more Blu-Rays!
