Would like to pick up christmas Carol and Treasure Island. I have the Muppets not really that interested in The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper. And hated Muppets Most Wanted so I will just wait for the two I want to come out on there own.

Thumbs up

Lovely! Holding off on upgrading to BD has paid off. Only have to get Manhattan and From Space and that's the lot.
It's worth 350 DMR points too!

After some peculiar decisions by Disney UK I have imported all of my Muppet Movies from the US.

Because it's the OZ direct to DVD/TV film, so may have been shot only in SD, and thus not be beneficial to Blu-ray.

It was shown at a film-festival but I don't think it has HD masters.

Since I have not picked up any, can you tell me what the UK blu-rays have excluded or done wrong?
This would be easier and likely cheaper for me to nab than individually (as boxsets usually are). But if the North American versions are better in significant ways then I'd consider otherwise - especially since I could then just get them here in Canada.

It was mostly due to the staggered release dates on all of the films which, obviously, won't affect you. The Muppets (Wocka Wocka version) came with the Oscar winning soundtrack and it looks like the new one has at least one additional cut (I have a feeling the Statler/Waldorf cut will be very short) which isn't advertised on the uk edition. Given the way that Disney UK is treating lots of films now I'll not take the risk. Also all the US/Canadian slips have a Muppety border which is a nice addition.

I guess most will be the same as the US releases, as Amazon states 5 discs... So Treasure Island and Caper might be on the same disc.

That's cool. You know what would be awesome? If every movie released on Blu-ray had a Muppety border.

I am going to e-mail Network to see if they can design a cover with a Muppety border for their upcoming release of Hands of the Ripper...

Excited for this. Hoping it'll be thin individual cases rather than digipack. I can't think of any times a Disney boxset has been a digipack though - anyone got any examples?

This has been pushed back a week to 11th August, same day as Muppets Most Wanted. No surprise really.

I'm holding off buying this until the specs for "Muppets Most Wanted" are confirmed.

The US edition features an extended cut and the BBFC haven't certed such a cut yet which tell me Disney (as per usual) are going to f8&k up the UK release (ala "Pete's Dragon") rendering it worthless.

It's a shame as otherwise it'd be a bargain but I'm not buying crap that Disney have short-changed us on otherwise they never learn.

Also "Muppets Treasure Island" was cut for all the UK releases up to now with multiple uses of the word "bloody" re-dubbed.

I think it's been confirmed in the "Muppets Most Wanted" thread, the UK will be theatrical only.... I've already ordered mine from DVDWorldUSA. They also have a Treasure Island / Caper release, I'm just trying to find out it's region free before I pick it up. Disney UK have had all the cash they're ever going to get from me....
