For those who don't know, a spiritual trilogy is three films by a single filmmaker that share no characters, but have a common idea amongst them...

Examples of this include:
-Terry Gilliam's Imagination Trilogy, consisting of Time Bandits, Brazil, and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
-Steven Spielberg's Running Man Trilogy, consisting of AI: Artificial Intelligence, Minority Report, and Catch Me If You Can.
-Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy, consisting of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End.
-Alfred Hitchcock's Strangler Trilogy, consisting of Shadow of a Doubt, Rope, and Strangers on a Train.
-Gus Van Sant's Death Trilogy, consisting of Gerry, Elephant, and Last Days.
