Talking My eyes have been opened. (welcome to the world of 1080p)

Well I recently purchased a 50" Panasonic Plasma but had no BD player for the living room. Called into the local supermarket and purchased a 40gig PS3 (my second PS3) and hooked it up to the plasma. Unfortunately my Yamaha has no HDMi but i was able run a coax for audio.

Wow the picture quality is incredible. I had been restricted to 720p and 1080i on my Sony LCD but there is really no comparision. Watched Cars which is stunning btw.

I recently had a similar experience I posted about when I saw PotC in 1080p24 and it was a sight to behold. Like nothing I've ever seen.

Makes my 720p set seem so inadequate.

Sounds like a fun week. You send the invites and we'll join you for the screenings.

Wait until you get the new Yamahas with TrueHD and DTS HDMA decoding. You'd have to watch all 150 all over again!

That will be my next purchase. How do people rate Yamahas DVD players? Will they be making a BD player at all?

Mitsubishi (as well as several other Blu-ray manufacturers) is working on a 3D Blu-ray standalone; supposedly it will be ready by the Spring of 2008. http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9764622-1.html. If successful, you'd have yet another reason to view your library!

I've never been a big fan of 3-D. Maybe my experiences of it have been of a poor standard.

This is a never ending story, lol. You upgrade your tv, then the player, then the receiver, then the speakers, then start all over again, hehe.

Congrats in the purchases..I've been leaning to another SXRD (50" this time).. but our futureshop has the 52" Bravia XBR4 for $3499 right now..still over twice the SXRD but $500 less than usual..oh so tempting.

We will also be picking up our second PS3 this week since the basement is almost done..

I have Rat but unfortunately its region locked. I am thinking of picking up the new Panasonic profile 1.1 player coming out soon.

Oops sorry..I think you mentioned it before..guess I just rubbed salt in that particular wound ...well consider it payback for tempting me further towards the Bravia after you posting . Yeah I know it was a Panny but it still tempts me towards a higher end ground...

I have a Sony Bravia 32 in the bedroom which i love too. Sony never disappoint on the higher end LCDs. I'm sure you will love it.
