Default An end never in sight?

As I keep seeing all the price fluctuations, insentives, offers, confusion, people who've gone neutral, I'm skeptical to believe there is not going to be an end to this "format war." I am a die hard blu-ray fan and have turned many people towards it, and have utterly refuse to go HD-DVD, up to this point. Maybe there isnt a war, just two seperate sides? Could the media be doing what every other company does? Kind of like McDonalds vs Burger King .. Pepsi vs Coke? I'm just always considering neutrality but never make the move to do it. I enjoy High Def in all aspects, but one either needs to win or both announce that they will be in it forever. just my thoughts, any opinions? comments? etc.

Blu-ray is the best product. Period. That's the significant difference. Fast food--and Red meat--is *not* really that good for anyone.

-Greg

P.S. Besides, the color for those of us preferring Blu in the poll ought to be Blue, not anti-Blu.

I'll never go neutral, but will say it's frustrating seeing this drag out. We may have the lead, but I still think Blu ray is on thin ice and both formats are in danger of going by the wayside. I continue to buy with abandon though in hopes of an eventual victory for Blu ray, going over a 100 Blu ray movies.

In all seriousness Blu ray is a far superior format and this war is only hurting the consumers, I will only speak for myself but I am sure others will agree that Blu just has to make a few more moves on the chess board in order for dud to surrender, they're dying a slow death and everyone knows it. Every single HD fanboy is shaking because they know the inevitable will surely come soon.

Much of the speculation here may be answered by CES in January (around January 8th). If Warner and New Line make a move to exclusivity, that should tell us a lot. If no moves are made by studios, then we could talk about both being around forever, but if Warner and New Line go to Blu-ray I think it would be mostly inevitable that all major studios would release on Blu-ray eventually. If they went the other way, Sony at least would probably still fight, so the fight would likely continue for a while, but Warner and New Line are important enough that I would make HD DVD the favorites if the Blu-ray camp lost them (unless they gained something big elsewhere).

Basically, I think it we less than 6 weeks away from a big show where we could get big news and stop wringing our hands about a tie.

I'm just watching my collection grow with every month passed, and wondering if I have indeed made the right decision as blu-rays are not cheap lol. unless its BOGO of course hahah!! I do love bluray and i never shut up about it, but i really miss some of my favorite movies like Batman begins,V for vendetta, Transformers, and Bourne just to name a few.

It's impossible to always be right about the future, because if we could, we would all be rich off the stock market. I recall the 70's Laser Disc vs Needle Vision rout. When RCA was giving in to Laser, the players sold for less then half price before they threw in the towel.

only way I buy a HD-DVD player is if Blu-ray flat out loses and there are no more movies and players made available...and if there isn't anything superior out there as well..

If HD DVD ever meets or surpasses the quality of Blu-ray, I'll go neutral. Until then, I'm staying where I am.
