hi guys, im new here. what is this thing i keep hearing about MI:3 is finally going to be encoded in VC1 instead of MPEG2? what is VC-1? and is it that much better than MPEG2? also i hear that Sony was pushing for MPEG2 because it's sony compression codec(or something like that), and that they didnt want to use VC-1, because they had to pay some fees to use that codec....?

thanks!

MPEG2: Old and busted
VC-1/H264: New hotness

Best guess is Sony will use H264 in their own time, they use it on PSP for UMD Movies. At the moment they seem to want to give HD DVD a sporting chance, how very fair of them!
