How is the Spenser: For Hire pilot episode presented in the DVD set? Was it originally shown on US TV as a feature length episode?

I would assume it was shown as a full length movie. That is how it is presented on this DVD set. According to Wiki it aired as one epsiode. I'm sure in syndication / reruns they split it into a 2 part episode.

I've watched the Pilot and first episode and the picture is good. It is what you'd expect from a filmed show of this period. The audio is DD Mono 2.0. great DVD set worth every penny so far!

Is a Warner Brothers Television logo shown at the end of the episodes in the set, and is it the original Warner Brothers Television logo (for the mid-80's)?

Based on the amount of times Spenser: For Hire has been requested for a DVD release by the Warner Archive, hopefully the first season sells very well. Am guessing here, but hopefully the second season gets released early next year.

The Warner Bros logo that is at the end of each show is the mid 80's into the 90's shield logo. It doesn't look like it was tampered with at all.

Not watched any episodes in the Spenser: For Hire: Season 1 DVD set yet, but have tested all the discs out (skipping through the chapters). There are some slight problems with the picture at times (compression problems?), but nothing that spoils the set.

It's been around seven months now since the first season set was released by the Warner Archive, and still no sign of the second season. I'm interested in the second season partly because Carolyn McCormick starred in the second season.

P & P, did you notice any audio problems with the Spenser: For Hire: Season 1 DVD set?

I thought the audio was fine I think I felt like there were times I may have increased the volume more so then other DVDs but no different then other TV shows from that era.

I don't know whether the order the Season 1 episodes originally aired in was the same as the production order, but I noticed when testing the discs in the set out (haven't watched any episodes in full yet, but I might start watching the Season 1 set soon, along with Falcon Crest: Season 1), that early in the season there was a mixture of episodes having end credits showing silouhettes in the background, and some having a static screen with red paint splashed across the screen with Robert Urich's eyes on the red paint.

Spenser for Hire Season 2 will be released on DVD thru Warner Archive in May.

Another forum member let me know this info. It was posted in a recent video teaser and news info from Warner Archive.

WB Store are already shipping out Season 2 for those curious.

A kind member at HTF posted that thru the WBArchive facebook they did state Season 2 like Season 1 would have
Quote:
"Initial quantities of this release will be traditionally replicated (pressed) in anticipation of high consumer demand."
The question was asked because their product listing does not contain that bit of information.

P & P, can you post a pic of the rear boxart for the Season 2 set when you receive your copy of the set please (if you are getting the second season DVD set). Many thanks for keeping the thread updated.

Will do. I didn't order mine as fast as I did the first season, since I wanted to confirm if we would get some pressed copies from WBStore/ Archive. I think mine might ship out today and should have it by the weekend.

Many thanks P & P for posting a pic of the rear boxart for Spenser: For Hire: Season 2. Looks very clear to me, but I have one question (and I'm not criticising you), did Barbara Stock appear in any second season episodes, as I thought she only appeared in the first and third seasons of the show (I hope that's not considered a spoiler)? I know Carolyn McCormick appeared in the second season.

I like the front cover artwork for the first season more than the second season front cover artwork, but the first and second season rear boxart I equally like.

Actually not sure about Barbara Stock but if she isn't in S2 unless maybe they cut back her role to fewer eps that would be interesting they put her on the back cover.

update first season EP 1 credits Barbara Stock is NOT on this EP. Checked WIKI she is NOT on S2!
