Default Live Free of Die Hard on Samsung BD-P1000 ?

I just bought Live Free or Die Hard I put in and noticed a flicker on the Warning Screen. The first actual video to come up is the Simpsons Movie Trailer. The trailer had video, but no audio. At the end of the trailer the screen went to black and nothing ever came up. There was no loading icon or nothing. Just blackness. I did this a couple of times and the same thing. I tried to hit the next button on the remote and it froze up my player.

I own a Samsung BD-P1000. I have the latest firmware update from October which was a firmware update to help play FOX BR DVDs (Day After Tomorrow and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer). I own both of those movies and they play fine. I also own 4 other Fox BR titles, and do not experience any issues with those as well.

What is wrong and can anyone help

You might have a bad disc?

I just watched my copy today on my PS3, and The Simpsons trailer had audio, and when it finished, the next trailer played, and then the movie, flawlessly.

I just bought Die hard and noticed the audio was not in synch with the lips. I tried it on 2 different ps3s. I tried other Bluray movies and they all were in perfect synch. Wondering if I just got a bad copy?

Sounds like it, especially if you tried two different players. All of mine have worked perfectly.

I watched mine last night in my PS3, and the audio synchronization was perfect.

There's been several reported problems with other samsung decks. It probably needs a firmware update that will be along in a week or so

They have a FW on the site dated 11-19. Guessing they are doing the lets not change the version numbers but change the date. I really hate how they do that.

Before you create the 1,000,000th Live Free or Die Hard thread, you might want to go check the thread for your particular blu-ray player. I think most Samsung owners are complaining about the playability issue of this movie. My copy will play in my 1200 but it takes some patience.

Audio was fine. In fact, I thought the AQ for this movie was most excellent. Some of the best sound I have heard in a BR movie so far. Plus, just gotta love this movie.

Yeah i downloaded the F/W update that was dated for 11-19 but it was the exact same one from before dated on 10/14 or so,for the samsung b-1000 player. SO the same thing happened. But you heard that there is going to be another F/W update soon WICKY Woo?

Just watched my copy of the movie yesterday and everything worked fine. You must have a sub-par copy.

I had the same problem with my Samsung BD- 1000. After I got a 3rd replacement from BB it was all the same- no audio on the Simpsons and no movie. Then I finally called Samsung and they told me that they are aware of the problem and a new firmware update is on the way (not yet available on their webside) which will hopefully fix this issue. They also offered to mail me a cd with the upgrade.
So you can call Samsung and they will mail you the firmware...or you can buy a newer Blu-Ray player which I intend to do...

I don't believe they are the same update. I installed the 1.3 update on my BDP1000 the day it came out) and it works fine. I believe if it were the same update as last time, the player would recognize that and not install it. Mine installed fine (and the movie plays fine too). Try downloading it again and installing.

I have the exact same problem, to a tee as you described it. I even tried the next button as well and it freezes it as you said. I am using a Philip BDP9000/37 with the latest (10/16/07) firmware.

I had the same problem on the BDP-1000 with the October firmware (LFODH would get to the Simpsons trailer - sans audio, then disappear). So I downloaded the November firmware, performed an upgrade and now the disc won't even load.

A quick call into Samsung and they assured me that they are working on the problem and new firmware should be posted "sooner than later" to address the issue.

FWIW, Die Hard 1 does not work either. It just goes into some infinite loading routine. The only discs in the collection that works are Die Hard 2 and 3. No luck with 1 and 4. Guess I'll play the firmware waiting game. Sucks when you want to watch a new release and have to wait 2-3 months for new firmware. If the Sonys really do have the best track record for playing discs, then that alone may be worth the Sony premium.
