Warner Bros Superman Returns (2006) [No 3D Blu-ray]

I know all in all its not the greatest plot movie put together but there are some amazing scene, the airplan rescue and the bank robbery bullet bounce off the eye scene.

When I saw this at the theater I had no idea that there was a Imax 3d showing, so the movie already has some scenes in 3d.

I would definitely buy this if its converted then released.

What do guys think?

Yeah, not worth it to me. I've seen enough pre-Titanic/Avengers conversions.

If it was only 10 minutes of 3D footage, they'd have to hire a team to convert the rest of the film, and I'm guessing the studio that owns this wills spend that cost on other things.

If it was already fully 3D converted and completed, then I might be interested for a 3D blu ray at 20.00 and under if the 3D was medium or strong 3D but not mild 3D. I saw this one in the theaters and it was interesting.

What they said. Barely any was converted and it was a very early use of the technology that would probably look like utter crap to modern viewers.

The 3D looked great to me on the giant IMAX screen, I'd love to get this on 3D Blu-ray.

Its a long movie for just ten mins of converted footage though. I honestly think this movie was such a waste of time in general.

Piranha 3D looked great to me when I saw it at the theatre. Over the intervening years with the advancements in conversion technology and exposure to tons of newer, much better 3D flicks... it looks terrible. Remember, memory is a context-sensitive and rapidly-fading thing.

I saw this in Imax. Im pretty sure 12 minutes was in 3D and I remember it being amazing, but then again it was the first 3D I saw since the 80s.

I always wondered how this worked...Was it like Flesh and Blood Show when the last 10 minutes were in 3d? Or was it a special segment within the film ala The Mask (1961) where they signalled you to put the glasses on? Thanks!

It was spread throughout the movi. I think there was maybe 4 or 5 segments. Something popped up in the corner of the screen to signal you. You gotta remember too that this was back in the old days of Imax, when they first started really using it for Hollywood movies, so someone would come out and tell you about itt, show you all the speakers, etc, and generally make a big deal out of it. It was a lot of fun.

Warner's not going to was money on a full 3D conversion of Superman Returns... Not when they won't be able to sell it. (Maybe 15,000 copies if lucky, and no aftermarket.)

Ah, but I'm not talking about 2006, I saw a one-off screening a mere four years ago. So my memory of it has only decayed half as much as it otherwise would have.

Harry Potter 5's finale being in 3d would seem the better option for bringing across.

Ditto! Never got to see any of the selected 3d sequences for half blood prince or order of the Phoenix and I'm dying for Warner bros. to follow through on their announcement eons ago to completely convert those movies for release on 3d bluray!

I really don't want to see hp6 converted to 3d. The cinematography is very clearly a 2d experience that I can't see translating even remotely well to 3d.

i don't think a blu ray 3d version for superman returns could happen and the movie came out the same year the ant bully came out plus the 3d is not good cause it's converted where as with the ant bully the 3d was praised because the movie was rendered in true 3d.

If they ever decide to revisit the movie on bluray it shouldn't be that big a deal to include it as a 10 minute extra special feature, possibly with the option of branching it into the main film. I rather WB release more of their older vintage 3-D, but this was created digitally in the first place, so they wouldn't have any scanning expenses, presumably they have the files somewhere ready to go.

Although I expect they've forgotten it was even in 3-d at this stage.

It was actually 20 minutes of 3D, not 10 or 12. Full sequences were shown in the format, starting with the airplane/space shuttle rescue.

I'd sign a petition to never have to acknowledge this movie existed ever again. I mean seriously, what were they thinking. Even Superman IV is better, and that says a lot.
