Yesterday morning, was the last airing of a Saturday Morning Cartoons specific block on network television (Vortexx on the CW), which has been ongoing for the last 6 decades.
Future generations will never know the feeling of waking up at 7am all groggy and sleepy after a long week of school to catch the new episodes on a Saturday morning. Eating breakfast in bed, while spending the next few hours of the morning watching cartoons on several different channels to start your Saturday. Netflix/Hulu/On-Demand stuff just ain't the same experience. |

It is definitely the passing of a great American tradition. Kids today have it so lucky, with multiple cartoon channels running 24 hours a day. Not to mention the various streaming options and home video content. Cartoons used to be such a rarity on network television outside of that morning block, especially outside holiday periods.

wow! That sucks even though I wasn't even sure they were still around. My kids always think we're nuts when we tell them that every Saturday we were waking up at 6am on purpose.
