Default Yesterday, was the quiet end to a great American tradition for children.

Yesterday morning, was the last airing of a Saturday Morning Cartoons specific block on network television (Vortexx on the CW), which has been ongoing for the last 6 decades.

Future generations will never know the feeling of waking up at 7am all groggy and sleepy after a long week of school to catch the new episodes on a Saturday morning. Eating breakfast in bed, while spending the next few hours of the morning watching cartoons on several different channels to start your Saturday.

Netflix/Hulu/On-Demand stuff just ain't the same experience.

It is definitely the passing of a great American tradition. Kids today have it so lucky, with multiple cartoon channels running 24 hours a day. Not to mention the various streaming options and home video content. Cartoons used to be such a rarity on network television outside of that morning block, especially outside holiday periods.

wow! That sucks even though I wasn't even sure they were still around. My kids always think we're nuts when we tell them that every Saturday we were waking up at 6am on purpose.

This makes me sad! I have great memories of watching Saturday morning cartoons. In the Summer we always slept late except on Saturday.
