Default 7.1 Decoding Questions

Hello,

I need some help in figuring out what is going on with my system decoding. You can see my home theater components below so decoding 7.1 should not be a problem. I recently rented "Hairspray" which has a DTS-MA 7.1 track on it. As the movie begins, the the New Line Studios logo appears with some music that shows on my receiver as 7.1 being decoded (all speaker icons lit up). However, when the movie begins, it continues decoding DTS-MA but the speaker icons indicate 5.1 decoding. Please advise if this is happening to anyone else. I own the movie "The Condemned" which has a 7.1 track as well and the speaker icons only light up as 5.1. Help.........

Thanks,

John

Did you set your player to bitstream for all codecs?

Sounds like it's just passing the core. The New Line logo is DTS ES (matrixed rear)

Yep. Since your player can't decode DTS-HD MA, you must send the DTS-HD MA bitstream to your receiver. The New Line logo is DTS ES 6.1, so I'm not sure why you are seeing "7.1" on that.

If it isn't working, time to hit up Pioneer...
