Default S.W.A.T. - almost picture perfect

http://www.hometheaterspot.com/htsth...?sequence=1534

From the review:

Quote:
This is another very strong addition to Sony’s Blu-ray catalog. In technical merit it often looks almost picture perfect.
Thanks for the head's up on another great BD, Chad!

Very nice. HD DVDs only advantage (the "unnoticeable" better sharpnes) is falling down as fast as a rock even though the Blu-Ray have not yet brought the best. I wonder for how long HD DVD fanboys will close their eyes and not see where is their format going -> namely the trashcan!

I never saw this movie. It slipped under my radar and there was a lot of bad word of mouth.

What do you all think of it? Worth a damn or what?

I enjoyed it...typical popcorn flick with the same plot you've seen 97 times but I still liked it.

Unless UR a fan of some or one of the actors... IMHO not worth a damn. At a time ppl suspected it was directed by John Ashcroft
Other than that, stupid plot, lots of cliches, not so good acting (mostly) and so on.

Well, if it is anything like Alexander with Colin Farrell, I'll pass. That movie sucked the sweat of a smelly goat sack.

Freakin Macedonians speaking Irish, what the hell!? To top if off, you had the whole Braveheart, rile up the troops, scene copy (they even used FREEDOM!...and then added GLORY! at the end I guess to try and be unique.) that just came across as too corny, especially with the Irish accent.

I will give Val Kilmer props for that film though, he was good...everyone else...horrible.

Anyhow, I digress. I, too, missed out on this one--S.W.A.T. How would some of you rate it? B+? B? B-? F? Let me know,...I may have to take a trip to Blockbuster...

My wife loves the guy! Thankfully I haven't had to sit through Alexander... yet.

As for SWAT, I agree with Brian it's the same movie you've seen numerous times in the past. I'd say the BD is worth a rental especially given the nice review.

Around D-, or E+
Like Brian said the plot is old, and pretty much standard. So is the acting. S.J is in his favorite tough dude role, Rodriguez is in her usual(and only) "look @ the whites of my eyes" role and so on. Plot holes are huge, but I guess that's also given. And LA is worse than Iraq...

as stated, it's entertaining, lots of loud noises, etc etc. u like to throw it in from time to time for mindless entertainment.

one thing i don't get is why everyone is down on alexander. i know most people don't like it. most peoples complaints are that it's weird, they don't understand this or that and is confusing, etc etc. i have read and studied ancient greece, egypt, italy, macedonia, and more. i have a very solid feel of the culture, time, place, and the rest of the world (esp given the time frame) and i truly liked the movie. yes, it takes some thought and understanding but wasn't bad. granted, i have the director's cut and never saw the theatrical release. maybe there is something better (or worse in it) but i just don't understand people's complaints.

i know, off topic from SWAT, but since it was being brought up, i figured i'd throw in my two cents.

I like Alexander a lot. I'll definitely buy it on BD when the time comes.

Sharpness can be easily adjusted. TV defaults usualy have sharpness to 0. just crank up sharpness on TV. Viola! Sharp crisper images
