France Derrière les murs aka Behind the Walls (2011) Blu-ray 3D [No English audio or subs]

Derrière les murs is the first film made by the French in 3-D, or so imdb claims. Synopsis:

Quote:
Centre of France, 1922. Suzanne, a young novelist lacking inspiration decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. As Suzanne discovers a sealed-up room in the basement of her house, she starts writing oddly easily. Visions and nightmares soon strike her while the villagers grow worried as several little girls mysteriously disappear.
Personally, I love French cinema especially classic French dramas, crime and suspense films. This looks like a good one. I also welcome a live-action 3-D drama that does not depend on big loud noisy action and CGI in any shape, way or form. Just good old-fashioned storytelling.

amazon.fr has blocked sales to the USA. There are about four editions, all are region B and none are English friendly. Amazon.de, however, will ship the German edition to the USA. amazon.UK also carries both the French and German editions. Links:

Thanks for finding and posting the trailer. The film looks pure French to me. Can't wait til it gets here. I wouldn't judge the depth by that horrid anaglyph conversion. I'll bet the Polaroid version looks much better.

Would that be because its French ? I love French cinema but they too are capable of making bad films. While I find the prospect of a French period horror film in 3D enticing, so far I haven't found a single positive comment or write up about the film. There are quite a few negative ones though.

The experience of watching a film is more important to me than other people's opinion. There is almost always something to appreciate, and experience has taught me to always give the French the benefit of the doubt. I'll watch it and make up my own mind.

That's great if you have excess amounts of money and time. In may experience films where you can't find anybody who has anything good to say about them, really are not worth the time. I prefer to be a little more discerning in what I watch.

You make several preposterous assumptions in that snarky little post.

I will limit my response to this:

The word you are looking for is "discriminating" not "discerning." Look them up.

Giving films a chance is not being undiscerning.

The discernment comes during and after the watch, not before.

And who the hell are you to tell me I'm not discerning.

Thanks for the info on the new 3D film. It's nice to see more 3D films emerge from new locations. I wonder why they would block sales to the US on amazon.fr?

Did anyone ever see this? I found a vendor for it. Is it worth the purchase?

I have the German release:

Neither release (FR or DE) is English friendly. I figured if I can't speak the languages, maybe listening to the German audio track might be more coherent. It's not. (I took high school German). If an English dub/sub shows up, I may attempt it again. I don't remember the 3D. I know the 3D wasn't bad though, since I generally remember those.

"worth the purchase?"
Yes if you speak German, French or like to see supermodels stretching their acting wings. And yes if you want to round out your 3D collection. No if you bought it for nudes scenes. No if you want to watch a movie and know what's going on.
