We are having a bit of a debate today in the office, so I will pose the question to you guys.

Who is the the most famous living celebrity of the past 50 years? We are going for either musicians, actors, athletes or politicians. We are also thinking Worldwide, not just the USA.

I'd say Bush is the most famous. Not to say he's famous because of popularity, but just about everyone knows who he is.

I'd say for pure celebrity, ie not politicians, it would probably be one of the two toms, Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks. I doubt there are many streets around the world that they could go down without being recognised.

+1 - As much as some of you don't want to admit - he has to be the most famous celebrity alive.

Give me another celebrity that started as a black kid and ended up a white man and has an estate that is like the size of texas. Not to mention some of the best songs ever done.
