Default Recent Police concert

For all of you audiophiles out there, does anybody know if the most recent Police concert will or can ever be released on Blu-ray? I don't know who would own the distribution rights, and I have heard that they are planning a DVD, but I do not know by whom. I saw them this summer in New Orleans, and it was by far the best concert I have ever seen.

Hmmm, I hope so, I saw them up at Toronto a few weeks back, and it definitely looked like they had some big time filming going on, cameras everywhere, etc.

The entire police and Sting catalog is owned by Universal. I'm not 100% sure that Universal would own rights to everything they do, but it seems very likely. Therefore, a blu-ray is probably unlikely in the foreseeable future.

I saw them on their current tour when they were in Oakland. Instead of dropping $30 on a blu-ray, I bought an overpriced Police t-shirt.

Universal Music Group or Studios? The Music side is completely separate.

Not what I wanted to hear. I suppose I'll have to settle for the DVD.

Nope, it's the same company--part of Seagrams which was subsequently purchased by Vivendi.

Nope, Universal Music was kept by Vivendi. Seperate

If you check, UMG is part of the Blu camp

Sure enough, next week: Elton 60: Live at Madison Square Garden (Universal Music Group).

Thanks for the correction. A Police Blu-ray now seems a lot more likely.

Hope the Pink Floyd reunion concert at live 8 makes it to blu-ray. I wasn't expecting a great show after seeing so many other reunions flop but they rocked.

I'm glad too, my GF is a HUGE Sting fan. It was a great concert too, sold out wall to wall.

I was suprised to see the tour last as long as it did. Given Sting's ego clash with Copeland and Stewart I had my doubts. I hope they filmed a show or two of the Van Halen reunion as well. A review I read in Blender magazine gave it positive remarks.

Yeah, Sting seems to be a perfectionist, while they other guys are quite the opposite... but Sting by far was the most interesting to watch of the 3.
