Don't go for the cheaper and technologically inferior product, that is a very HD-DVD thing to do

Seriously though, the XBR4 is a very nice set. I'd save up for that one!

I highly recommend XBR3+ series. You will not be disappointed with the picture at all.

Save for the xbr4.

1080p/24
HDmi 1.3
120mhz

You do not want to buy a tv just to be feeling the need to upgrade soon after.
Save a little longer and get a tv that will last you a while.

I would go with the plasma, but then I'm biased - I have the 50" version of the panny. I suggest you read some independent rveiews. CNET's reviews of the Sony XBR:
"Although not quite as impressive as the best plasmas, the 46-inch Sony KDL-46XBR4 outperforms any flat-panel LCD we've tested so far."

I dont think you will be disapointed with either one. My borther has the 50 and I have the 42 panny televisons and they are very nice sets so you really have to look at each one and see if one offers one the other does not.
