Default What is up with Universal?

Why do they always have to be different and ruin mainstream things. First with Blu-ray, a format that was on its way to being mainstream, but then Universal was the last studio with HD DVD that held out forever giving Toshiba enough time to bribe Paramount and continue the format war.

Now with itunes. Everything was great with itunes, it was a mainstream service, but then Universal decided they wont be offering their TV shows on itunes anymore, now they only support Amazon Unbox, a service I am sure will fail.

It is like itunes for TV shows and Movies. You download legal videos for like 1.99 an episode or somethin. Amazon.com uses it.

Maybe you are being facetious, but if not, it's the worst TV/Movie/Music application to ever exist. It is destined to fail. It was rated by CNET as one of the worst things that came out of 2007. That and Windows Vista.

I can't start threads yet..so I will post in this one:
From what I understand, company's who are loyal to bluray/hd-dvd have signed contracts. When the contract ends, they can move to the other side. Someone made a post of...I think Paramount moving to bluray when their term is up with HD-dvd. If this is true, where can I find information about how long Universal is tied to HD-DVD?

The real question is why does Universal keep throwing its weight in with inferior products?

Reported months ago Uni chose to dramatically increase the fee per movie charged to Apple and Apple decided not to renew the contract. Uni has, apparently, chosen the unbox route.

its rumored to be 18 months, but that is not official. No official time limit has ever been announced. They never even officially acknowledged there was a payoff (although the New York Times reported it), their official story is that Paramount chose HD DVD because it was the superior format.
