Does anyone have any info regarding a Blu-Ray release?

And I apologise if someone got exited at an soon expected release due to the making this thread.

No release in sight anywhere in the world that I'm aware of.

I wouldn't be surprised if the hold-up revolves around disagreements between Waters and Gilmour in terms of rights.

not cool - this is a 'wish list' topic - not here... at this point, when MGM sorts out it's deals in terms of releasing titles on UHD, this should be high up on the list.

The Wall will get released when Roger Waters wants The Wall to get released.

Sony Music has been handling the home video distribution for The Wall since 1999. I'm pretty sure MGM is completely out of the picture on all things related to The Wall.

ah yeah, forgot that fact ... I thought I heard mention that after the big Pink Floyd 'The Early Years - 1965-1972' Deluxe 27-Disc Box Set release, 'The Wall' with a new 5.1 mix would get released in album form as well as the movie.

The Wall is a pre-May 1986 MGM title. It used to be owned by Turner in the early 90's. MGM has been out of the picture for The Wall ever since Turner bought MGM

James Guthrie, the engineer that Pink Floyd/David Gilmour have used for decades, has said that he is working on a 5.1 mix of both the album and the movie. The original master tapes are in such bad condition that it will take him years to put it all back together and create the new mix. He said that probably a couple of years ago to a Pink Floyd fan site after the release of the Wish You Were Here Sacd 5.1 mix. He said that another factor in the delay is that the album and movie, while both will be given a 5.1 mix, they will obviously be different. I could be wrong but I believe he said that the movie would be done before the album.

It took him several years to put together the Wish You Were Here SACD mix, and I suspect it will another few years before the movie or album are done.

But he is working on it.

And I have to add the WYWH Sacd is fantastic.

Has anyone purchased one of the many Russian blus of this floating around on eBay? I'm assuming that they're bootlegs that use the HDTV version of the film (which is apparently acceptable). Odd that they're all specifically Russian copies, though, and from different sellers. I've just been waiting for this for so long that I wouldn't mind an okay stop-gap - the special edition DVD is excellent, but my blu-ray shelf isn't really complete without it.

I just received my Russian bluray. Looks like the real thing. I will check it out tonight and let you know. Has 5.1 on the back.

Still watching.. Perfect copy and soundtrack. 5.1 works very well. The menu all came up in english too. I had the Laser Disc edition years back and this is just as good. Nice HD pic. Ordered mine from Russia on Ebay.

I just got round to ordering the Russian version also. Very obviously fake - low quality printed cover and disc, BD-R, watermark near the beginning of the film, etc etc. The picture quality isn't enough of a jump from the DVD to justify it for me (in fact, the DVD picture was already very good from what I recall, especially for its age).

Guess it's back to waiting, in fact I'd say with 20,000 Leagues out, this and Roman Holiday are the last of my favourites awaiting release. Which of the two is more likely...

I have the same disc. It was recorded from HDNet Movies (you can see the name of the network in the corner from time to time). Still, I knew what to expect from ordering a bootleg, and it is sharper than the excellent DVD (which I still own). I'll be ecstatic with a legit release, but this'll do until then.

I wish they’d just release this on Blu Ray already.
...but knowing how Pink Floyd releases go, we’ll probably just get a repress of The Wall on vinyl with a new hype sticker for the 40th anniversary of the album. No Alan Parker Wall Blu Ray release. No 1980 Live show sourced from 35mm film. Nothing worth while.

1. Did anyone get this Digibook, and can anyone say anything about it?

2. Does anyone know anything about this new Italian release of The Wall?
