they forget that it is a simultanouis world wide release. by then ps3 will have sold 10 million worldwide, so its only going to need to have an attach ratio of 10%, not hard to achieve at all. r:fom did 1 million units with only 4 million units sold, surely mgs can do 1 million with 10 mil. sold. american reporters like to forget that there is a "rest of the world" and in that other part in almost every country ps3 is beating 360 in sales. also, the week this is released you can expect a def. uptick in sales. however, they also forget that gran turismo has sold more units than mgs or halo, so ps3 will have a very nice exclusive there (its 1st party though) and square enix's FFXIII should be exclusive, which really spiked sales in previous console wars, especially in japan.

I cannot wait for this game altho it probably won't come out til november next year(i sure as hell hope they're done with delays tho). this and ff13 are gonna kill 360. hopefully when it happens microsoft makes a 720 that ends up turning out like the jaguar or 3do or sega cd or saturn or... ;D

why do people keep forgetting about gran turismo, it has sold more copies than any other game in the history of playstation, and all 4 gran turismos have sold better than any one of the halos. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ng_video_games

Actually it is Grand Theft Auto that has been the best seller on the Playstation platform. Gran Turismo 1 was the best seller on the PS1, but on the PS2 it was Vice City selling 5 million more copies than GT1 did on the PS1. They both of course sold more than the Halo franchise.

I cant believe some jackass at G4 said this game isnt a system-seller. I bet this game will sell 1-million copies in Japan alone.

And as console numbers increase for all systems, and developers get more familiar with all consoles, the fear of not profiting from a game drops, so I really dont see the end of 3rd party exclusives any time soon. Thats just another example of typical short-sighted journalism.

MGS4 will sell systems, thats a given! To reach one million on the first day the game would need a strong marketing campaign.

P.S. MGS4 was the only reason i bought a PS3 and the BD players was just a bonus for me

The G4 jackasses should be fired and forced to earn foodstamps by proclaiming the superiority of the PS3. Seriously, I saw one episode where they interviewed IGN's Greg Miller, the acting PS3 guy. The questions consisted of: (1) Why is the PS3 doing so bad; (2) Why is it so hard to program for; (3) Why do you think the 360 will beat the PS3.

Greg Miller, who incidentally was the dolt that gave Lair a 4.9, stated that the key to the PS3's success was achievements in Home! Who in the hell cares about achievements enough to purchase a system? He then proceeded to reference the 360 commercial in which Motley Crue was covered... (Poison actually). What a raving 360 fanboy. For all of these reasons, I amend my previous statement and say that Greg Miller should be kicked in the groin.

G4 sucks. Period.

MGS4 will push two million units, because there is no other game like it. Done.

yup...just look how many games have been released on the playstation 1, and playstation 2 sofar from just Japan and :

the playstation 3 will continue the same trend

look at the playstation 2's cumulative shipment numbers for its first year march 2000 to 2001...10.61 million units shipped were already over 6 million sold through now but over 7 million shipped playstation 3's with sales through the fall Christmas season AND until March 2008 with not even the most sought after games released yet i think that the playstation 3 is doing well just like the playstation 2

Funny stuff there, and I thought I was the only one who got angry over people being ignorant like this, My friends and family refer to it as me opening up my crayon box. Seriously I don't see the big deal over achievements at all either, unlocking stuff is cool but the points would not be needed it M$ didn"t charge you for EVERY little thing on the market place. PS3 owner who never had a 360 don't know how good we have it.

What gets me is that this kid, Greg Miller (who can't be older than 22), is making a living and he takes no pride in learning about who his audience is or even bothering to check his facts.

The PS3's draw is that it is an all-in-one entertainment system with the largest catalog of 1st-party titles (based on the PS2). Blu-ray is great. Free network is great. Sixaxis great. But all of these don't make the Playstation what it is. The Playstation is succesful because of the variety of games. It has all the bases covered for action, rpg, FPS, horror, racing, platform, etc. It bridges the Japanese and North American gaming market. No other system can offer this. Wii is really Japan focussed with games like Cooking Mama and the 360 is North America.

However, a show like G4 wouldn't acknowledge this, and sadly the PS3 section of IGN has gone down the toilet since Jeremy took on his new duties overseeing the entire gaming section.

all i'm going to say about G4 is that Adam Sessler is the biggest douchebag ever. Here's how there show goes.

Morgan: So true.

Adam: 360 is awesome cause its got games like Halo. You can just run around mindlessly firing at everything that moves and racking up awesome achievements. ps3 sucks cause its got games like MGS. You gotta think before you fire, you gotta approach enemies from the best possible route and take them out with the right weapon or you are F#$#ed, its to mind consuming for me and MS bought me this awesome Master Chief blow up doll, so thats why PS3 sucks and 360 rocks.
