I got my PS3 back!!

Well not really finally, it took 13 days from the day I called Sony (2 Saturdays past) and they said they'd ship a box until I get my fixed PS3 back.

Here was the problem according to them:

System unable to read disc - Multiple/all disc types

And here's what they did to it:

Align last output, focus, tracking and balance
Replace optic, system repair and BD adjustments, Diagnostics test, pass all tests.

Looks like I got a new laser in mine. Sweet.

Overall the service was quite good, didn't take a long time to get my PS3 back, it's in relatively the same shape as it was when I sent it.
There is a little bit of scuffing on the back corner that wasn't there before. I'm assuming that was from shipping since Sony says "some scuffs and scratches on receiving". That's if you take their word for it.
Also, there is some glue or epoxy or whatever it is around all the edges from where they sealed the system back up. I was a little bit mad about that since it's going to be very hard to get off and it's noticeable because the color is almost white. Other then that the system is in good shape still.
And I got a brand new controller with it! Looks new at least, it's in WAY better shape then the one I sent them.

I tried running Call of Duty and some Blu-Rays and it seems to be working fine now. Yay congratulations me!

Is this standard in Canada? I sent mine in here in the US and they sent me a replacement refurb unit. It took about the same amount of time but the one I received back wasn't the one I sent in.

Congratulations on the return of your PS3.

I finally received my shipping box from Sony. So, now I'm packing up my unit to send it off for repair or replacement. I hope I have my unit back and functioning perfectly real soon. I have tons of new Blu-rays that I can't watch until the unit comes back.

My PS3's Blu-ray drive died over two weeks ago. Not only did it stop reading discs, it wouldn't even spin up. Less than 150 hours on the unit. I'm going through severe Blu-ray withdrawls and had to resort to feeding my projector upscaled DVD's from my Sony DVD player. It doesn't even compare!

It works differently in Canada then in th US although I'm not sure what that entails. I asked the consumer support rep and all she would tell me is it works differently for each.

I'm kinda glad I got my original console back as I've tried very hard to keep good care of it and keep the dust off. Plus it's my console. Just like I hate buying used stuff.

Congrats to you! Glad you got your system back. If mine broke I don't know what I would do, as I would not want a referb. (I stood in line for 5 hours to pre-order this one, so I am partial to it) If it ever breaks I will probably just buy a new one.

Last I heard the average return time was up to 7-9 weeks.
