Blu-ray Grand Duke

![]() Trailer looks like it's gonna be a fun spectacle and it co stars Alexandra Daddario so that's a no brainer as far as I'm concerned! I really enjoyed the director's previous movie Journey 2 The Mysterious Island and it had great 3D. Hopefully this will be more serious in tone and with more spectacle. It might look a little bit 'seen it all before' but it'll be nice to have a big epic 3D disaster movie. 2012 would have been great in 3D, so would Into the Storm. At least this one is embracing the format and will hopefully make good use of it. |

Nice intro trailer, thanks Levcore.
Thanks for the info that this is the same director of Journey 2, which has very good, high medium 3D most times with some great pop outs now and then. I agree, 2012 would be awesome in strong 3D with John Cusack, and San Andreas with The Rock will hopefully match the 3D quality of Journey 2. Nature vs Mankind: Scientists predict a major earthquake of major devastation is overdue in California based on the fault line of the earth's plates deep under the ground, shifting slowly. They've been predicting that for over 20 years though. In the end, the earth doesn't care one way or the other about humanity or the life on earth, Nature's going to do whatever it does without regard. Just like a giant meteor could miss the moon and smash into the earth like a major atomic blast, destroying most life on earth. Or the sun shooting off a major sun flare, creating a massive EMPulse that would disable all electricity on earth. Hopefully not, but possible... Special effects look solid here. |

Into the Storm is released to buy in the UK today, so i'll be picking that up, i thoroughly enjoyed it at the cinema. I still think there's plenty of scope for good disaster movies. I enjoyed 2012 but it felt almost too massive, like it didn't really have much focus because it was so global. |

If San Andreas can offer that kind of destruction in the movie in strong 3D, that would be something. Looks like The Rock (Johnson) is a rescue pilot in this one, which is a good reason that he would stick around amid the disaster instead of getting out of town. I remember in the 2nd trailer they said the east coast could feel the shock wave. Let me know how you liked Into the Storm. Too bad it wasn't 3D, I would have seen it. I also didn't see The Day After Tomorrow. Did see Deep Impact with Elijah Wood. It was okay. Not as exciting as I was hoping. The Day After is a slow, but very good post nuclear explosion movie with Jason Robards as a doctor living in the radioactive wasteland, though it's from a realistic point of view, so no action. |

I'm not one to go to theaters (dirty, noisy, smelly, expensive and I can't pause the movie when I have to pee, etc.), but San Andreas is right up my alley. I love stuff like this, but on Memorial Day weekend I plan to be riding roller coasters at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania.
I might go see San Andreas in 3D, but only if the reviews are good. I can go the week after Memorial Day. As far as 2012 is concerned, I enjoyed the first two-thirds of the Roland Emmerich schlockfest. Once the refugees travel to the Himalayas to board the "submarine/arks," the story goes down the tubes faster than my daily movement. The earthquake scenes are incredible, and John Cusack and Woody Harrelson are awesome in 2012. It's good to see Dwayne Johnson doing movies like Hercules 3D and now San Andreas 3D. When he played the lead role in the movie "Tooth Fairy" I figured that would be the end of his acting career. Glad I was wrong. . |

Just saw the movie
Outstanding 3d depth, not too many pop-outs but some are very noticeable, fast paced, really good action movie. |

Looking forward to how others viewed the 3D here.
Previews: Jurassic World 3D: 2nd trailer. This time, the whole trailer had strong 3D. The theater projector makes a difference. Point Break 3D: (Only showed the 2D trailer. 3D trailer not ready yet.) Pixels 3D: Strong 3D again. Quote:

Saw this last night, for some reason they only showed one trailer in 3d and that was Jurassic park, the trailer looked phenomenal, San andreas was a really good movie kept you interested all the way through, tons of mayhem and destruction and the 3d was solid, but if your looking for pop outs you will be disappointed, overall the 3d provided excellent depth, I would say medium 3d on this one, the 3d version is the way to go...imo.
