Default I know what Sony should make

If this is deemed off-topic, go ahead and move it. That being said, I think there should be an up-converting PS2.

The drop in PS3 price has driven more units into homes, but in light of the lack of PS2 compatibility, I'm glad I got my 60 gig PS3. The firmware with PS1/2/DVD upscaling was my favorite one thus far.

It's one thing that removing old processors saves money, but as it is, few ppl will get to experience the fun of PlayStation classics in near hi-def. That's why an upconverting PS2 would be nice.

This is why people need to find the last remaining 60GBs before they are gone forever!!!

It really is worth it....glad I picked one up when they dropped prices the first time..

Default software emulation

As far as I know, sony just has to work on getting software emulation to work for ps2 compatibility w/o the hardware. The cell is more then capable, it's just a matter of getting the work done. I don't doubt that at some point a fw release will give the 40 gb people ps2 compatibility.

In a few years, I bet that's what we see. The PS1 and 2 were compacted, and the PS2 got a built-in network adapter and a tougher disc drive when it happened.

But yea, for now, I'd say an upconverting PS2 would be cool.

PLAY TV will basically make a PS3 a DVR. Comes out in PAL in early 2008, only thing sucks is I don't know if and when it will make it to the states. I am crossing my fingers and watching for it to his store shelves.

Could there be firmware updates that can upscale your games on your PS3?
