I like the two Ghost in the Shell movies, is that the original? or is that Stand Alone Complex?

I also like Jin-Roh and the Patlabor Movie.

They are all excellent anime. Avalon is actually a live-action Science Fiction in Russian but I think it definitely had some nice special efx for its time. Interesting, this was in a Korean store?

Yes, was in a Korean store. They're imports. I so want to buy Starship Troopers, which is below those, but it's $50.

These boxes seem to include both Blu-ray and DVD.

That's what it seemed like... both BR and DVD. I didn't look at them too closely. Just snapped this photo and looked at the price.

I'm sure they're about $20 less out of Japan.

I bought Ghost in the Shell in Tokyo at some store in Akihabara. It was 10.000 yen at the time (September). Pretty pricey, but I wanted a souvenir. ;-)

Polish. It's directed and written by Mamoru Oshii (most of the other movies up there)

JinRoh is out in the US now and it is cheaper, the places listed are selling imports. Patlabor has yet to be announced here, Steamboy will be out from Sony. Miramax owns Avalon, but I seriously doubt it'll see Blu here for a very very very long time. It's a good mindf*ck film though, and if you enjoy Oshii's other work, you should like it

I'm hoping I'll find some in the used bins in Japan

I loved Avalon, I personally think that the Matrix stole alot from it.
Ghost in the Shell is pretty good on blu, a little bit of a let down in the audio department.
Ghost in the Shell : Innocence is beautiful on blu.
Haven't seen the rest yet.

Avalon was made after Matrix

The Wachowskis have credited Ghost in the Shell many times as inspiration, which was also directed by Oshii

They have to stop bundling these with DVDs, it raises the prices, plus they are imports and from Japan... so it is overpriced anyways.... and yet I am so tempted to order most of those titles.

WHEN WILL GitS COME TO BLU-RAY IN THE US?!

It does not raise the price one dollar (which is more than it costs them to add that DVD)

I have that direct from Bandai Visual, the DVD inclusion has no affect whatsoever on the price.

This is standard pricing for BV's collector's editions in Japan, and has been for at least 10 years. I've got Memories (LD size box) and the original issue of Wings of Honneamise (thankfully purchased used for $40) to prove it.

Starz will issue GiTS eventually under the Manga Entertainment label, but I'd imagine it'll be at least another year coming. THey co-financed the film and own exclusive US rights
