Default The Hour (Dominic West, Ben Whishaw)

Anybody else seen this show?

Just finished Season 1 and thought it was fantastic. Typical of the UK in that there's only 6 episodes, which works well, and the character building is fantastic. Great storyline. Dominic West, and Ben Whishaw are brilliant in their roles.

Find it hard to believe in a forum full of such varied opinions there's no topic on this show.

For those who have seen it, how's season 2?

For those who haven't seen this show, I highly recommend it. The relationship between the characters is so well done, and the main storyline ends up being quite the mystery.

A great show with an incredibly strong cast. It's actually disappointing that the BBC focus so much on viewing figures considering the fact that they don't rely on advertising revenue. As a result, many great BBC shows like The Hour get cancelled after just a couple of seasons.

Peaky Blinders, which airs on BBC Two over here, is actually getting good viewership and has been renewed for a third season which is a miracle because the beeb do a terrible job of advertising it. The fact that they've sold it to Netflix in the US will hopefully help it get a fourth season as well.

But yes, The Hour is pretty great though I would have liked to see more episodes that focused on them making the program. My favourite episodes were always the ones which focused less on the subplots and more on the challenges of making a popular news program and dealing with the politics of it/putting together a successful segment or whatever. Worth a watch even though it was cancelled very early in its run.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes Season 1 was fantastic television.

Season 2 just as good?

Ben Whishaw (Freddie) has the potential to be a great actor.

Really loved this, just caught it on Amazon Prime. The question is, why aren't more people watching it?
