Thumbs down Pirates At World's End with Samsung 1200

Just a heads up!
this disc is the same as Pixar shorts!
at least on the Samsung 1200 with latest firmware!

after the previews Jolly Roger comes on for you to choose Movie or menu
then thats all ye get!!! I know it's more a player issue, I have e-mailed Samsung here in Canada a few times since Pix Shorts came out, but I they haven't responded.

but I also wanted to mention this cheap case won't stay closed & all the centre tabs (what ever they are called) were broken for both discs! seems like quality control for this edition is nil.

Works fine so far on a Panasonic DMP-BD30.
I agree about the case. Not the same quality as the other ones.

Samsung seems to be causing all sort of problems with a lot of title... I mean if the title work everywhere but 1 brand, you gotta ask youreself some question..

awesome... love getting all ready to watch a new blu-ray release and the movie doesnt play...

how many more times can I get disappointed before January 1, 2008?

Does the PS3 receive firmware updates - is that the reaason why it is always able to play movies that dont play on stand alone players?

if we tell samsung now that the harry potters wont play maybe they will build a firmware and release it on the same day the potters are released...

wishful thinking... come on samsung, get off your azzes!!!

I may not have a PS3, but I love my SOny BDP-S300. No issue that firmware couldn't solve. And always does solve in a timely manner to coincide with BD releases.

Watch AWE last night on my Sony BDP-S300. No problems at all. All the menus worked just fine, although the Jolly Roger head gets a little snippy the longer you wait to start the movie.

Some PS3 users are reporting similar problems. However, they seam to be able to correct it if they turn off the 1080p/24Mhz option (I am pretty sure that is what it was called in another post). I don't know if there is something similar on the 1200 but it might be worth investigating.

mine must be a wierd case. I tried turning 1080p/24 off and rebooting like I saw on another site first and that didn't do the trick. hopefully noone will have to reset defaults to get it to work.

Try fast forwarding through the previews, that's how I get mine to work.

Default samsug issue

This is a samsung issue. Talked to samsung today about issues with this and other movies they said that the last firmware update 2.0 should have fixed this and many other issues with new movies. They are replacing my bd-p1200 but don't believe this will resolve the issue.

They surely know better than that by now.

That's the most frustrating part for me; you'd think they'd at least have some type of system that would tell their phone reps, "We know the BD-P1200 will not play the new POTC3. Tell people who call that we are aware of it, and will have a firmware update out as soon as possible, and apologize that we did not have it ready on the release date."

Instead, you get idiots telling you that they have a firmware update from October that should have taken care of it.

Better check again and put down your victory flag.
People just found a "workaround" to play the movie on some models of PS3's.

The PS3 seems to be the most compatible player but it has it's share of playback issues.

I also like how some of you PS3 owners like to treat blu-ray supporters who have issues with their players.
Keep it up and you might help loose some blu-ray supporters that help keep Blu-ray alive by purchasing abundant amount of titles.
