Default Review Of Order of the Phoenix (Blu-ray)

If posted already sorry everyone.

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/1121...hephoenix.html

"As the first Warner domestic high-def 'Harry Potter' release to come our way for review, this Blu-ray edition of 'Order of the Phoenix' is an excellent start, boasting exceptional video and audio. Compared to the HD DVD, this Blu-ray edition gets the edge when it comes to standard extras (which feature full 1080p video and a TV Special that didn't make the HD DVD cut), "

Default Remarkable PQ AND SQ DEMO QUALITY

The film's theatrical aspect ratio of 2.40:1 is presented in an excellent high definition transfer compressed with the VC-1 video CODEC. As one of the most prominent titles of the year, Warner seems to have done a very careful job with the transfer. I suspect Warner pushed the limits of storage capacity and bit rates for HD DVD before authoring the transfer for Blu-ray Disc. The studio even left the longest BD supplement off the HD DVD to make more room for the transfer. The images benefit; they are very sharp, with excellent finely grained textures and small object detail. Every hair in Dumbledore’s beard and the weave of Umbridge’s cardigan are extremely clear. Flesh tones are very natural and chroma is vivid without approaching iridescence, even during the mischievous fireworks. The video dynamic range is terrific, with no white crush and deep, rich blacks. However, I did see some suppressed shadow detail in dark scenes. Regardless, this is one of the best VC-1 transfers I’ve seen this year.

Wathed this Blu-ray tonight and I must say I dont think this title deserves anything more than 4,5 of 5 stars at the most for piqture quality. The picture was overall a tad too smooth, not enough detail and colours weren't as vibrant as I expected. Could be attributed to the VC-1 encode perhaps but I'm not a technical expert. That said the quality is still really good and the audio was great, I just missed that extra punch in the PQ.

I haven't bought it yet, but I will probably pick up Harry Potter 5 at Target this week (since it'll end up being the same price as Amazon). I'm glad they're making it for a great deal of people. So there's a ton of languages, a PCM track, subtitles, and 1080p bonus features. I'd take that over HD-DVDs In Movie Experience anyday.

Does anyone know if there's any deals on it this week?

I laugh at the "extra" advantage of HD DVD....i dont need that fancy crap....but one thing i do LOVE is 1080p extras....like on superbad, its awesome. I dont need anything special...just teh extras we always got with standard DVD's in 1080p
