Default Wow I'm glad I waited to buy my 4k UHD TV

It has hdmi 2.0 and the rec2020 color standard. I watch Netflix in 4k and it's awesome (20mbps speed). I loved breaking bad when it was actually on AMC. Now I LOVE Breaking Bad in 4k I can't wait for 4K Blu-Ray when it takes advantage of the rec2020 colors, which cover a large percent of what colors you see in the theater. I read this xmas players will come out but hope the price point isn't outrageous. Wish Xbox one or ps4 would've waited until these specs were final and didn't use hdmi 1.4

Any ideas on how much these company are going to charge for a standalone 4K player, not to mention the price for a 4K blu-Ray ( remember the prices for a 25GB Blu-Ray circa 2006)?

Just curious, but what size tv are you watching on, and what's your viewing distance?

Welcome to the 4K TV Club 👍

Discs will likely be around the same price as 3D ones - UltraHD is an extension to the Blu-ray format, not a whole new format.

Current thoughts from the other threads expect the first players to be $500+

Remember UltraHD is not just about the resolution - regardless of viewing distance content with expanded colour will be easily distinguishable from current HD standard Blu-ray.

I'm surprised how many have 4K TV's already, I would love one but I want all the bells and whistles that go with it.

65" from about 10-12 feet. I can surely see a picture quality difference when I watch Breaking Bad via Netflix app built into my tv in 4K vs seeing it on cable, the blu-Ray box set I own, or if I watch it from Netflix app on my PS3 or Xbox one. I think I notice the colors moreso than the calrity- though the clarity are superb. The colors are what makes it look real to me. It ridiculous. They also have Jerry McGuire which looks excellent. I mean, Tom Cruise has never looked so life like. You really notice his teeth are off center in his face. The Oceans documentary looks sureal too.

I'm sure it'll have hdmi 2.0 and support rec 2020 color. Just make sure you can see a picture difference from your seating distance with the tv size you're going to buy. I measured the tv to seating distance, then went to best buy and paced out the distance to be sure I was going to see a difference from my seating, then did the sensible thing and ordered it for a grand less via Amazon and paid no tax.

If you are wanting to watch UltraHD Blu-ray the minimum requirements are HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.

You may also want HEVC (h.265) decoding for watching 4K videos from USB and Netflix 4K.

HDCP 2.2!

Otherwise Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc's might not work.

Is HDR that bad? Surely it will just better display what the original film captured?

A difference in spatial resolution (alone) should be discernible for those with *normal* vision with a screen-to-eye distance of 9 ft. to a 56” 4K TV, as evidenced by results from independent professional lab scientific testing (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=9#post9504489 )

…..as well as that from large sample consumer testing (at least 9 ft. from a 55" 4K TV) -

I hope it supports hdcp 2.2. I just bought it this past fall. Can't they do a Firmware update for this, it would seem that it's software patch. My model is LG 65 UB9500. Just got it in the fall.

Yes it does. One but not all of the HDMI inputs support HDCP 2.2. nice set.

You will be missing out on High Dynamic Range(HDR), REC.2020 colour space, and 10 bit colour though.

Where does it say this set supports REC2020? The CIE 1931 seen here looks to be a standard REC709 gamut. It does have ONE HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2 input, the other three are most likely HDMI 1.4 so it can not be used as a switcher, as in a FMP-X10 and UHD BD player because both require HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2

Adding this since I found it regarding 4k players have dual hdmi outputs 1 video 1- audio
http://www.cnet.com/news/do-i-need-a...tag=YHRbd38a98

I have a Denon reciever that is 2.0 and i did a chat with LG and they said is hdmi 2.0 ready- it's a 2014 model. 2013 had 1.4. My reciever is hdmi 2.0 as well.

http://answers.lg.com/answers/7676/p...estion=1929737

I called denon and my teciever can support more than 12 bit color depth, so I'm good there. I'm using hdmi 1. Is there a different hdmi input I should be using that has better specs. Thought I saw something at AVS about this. Anyone know?

In the chat/ email I got from them they said it supported Rec 2020 as well

Email I recieved from LG:
