Is this season worth the $30 Target will have it for? The reviews on Amazon seem less encouraging than they are for the other seasons. I only just got around to watching the first two seasons on Blu a couple of months ago.

This season was pretty mediocre. I honestly don't think the show can recover from it.

If you're a fan of the first two seasons, you should like this. It's slower and less significant than the first two seasons, but it does develop the characters and builds up some tension that will likely play out in season four.

I thoroughly enjoyed this season, but it does shift in tone since it's about staying in power instead of his ruthless pursuit to obtain power. Still fascinating with top-notch acting.

I enjoyed this season as much, maybe more, than the previous two seasons. I don't think it's fallen off at all yet.

More love for this season than I found elsewhere, so that's cool. I read a theory somewhere that since there are 52 cards in a deck and each season has 13 episodes that season four would be the last one (4x13=52).

That would be cool. I think in terms of story and how much more they can get out it, one more season would probably do.

I forgot how god awful these cases are. Getting the first disc out was a real chore. Moreover, they've messed up the spine continuity:

Why aren't more people *****ing to Sony about this terrible Digishit packaging? How the hell did they release 3 seasons like this!? I had a hell of a time getting the discs out to put them in other cases. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would want to keep them in this junk.

I sure had no problem getting them out. Any packaging that doesn't include a cheap looking bright blue case works with me.

I don't normally have an issue with packaging that utilizes slots but from the start House of Cards has very much been an exception culminating in the Season Three set which had one of the discs glued into its slot.

I've never had that happen before.

Why the hell are they waiting so long to release each season on blu? Why not release it at the same time it goes on Netflix? and why the hell isn't there a listing on here to be email notified when the damn thing goes up for pre-order? We all know it'll be coming.

I also want to know if the Italian release is region locked or not, because I'd gladly import any release in a standard case over that cardboard junk.

Releasing it the same time it goes on Netflix makes no business sense. Netflix invests money into these shows to increase their subscriber base. They're not going to lose any potential subscriber by allowing the distributor to release it the same day. The same thing applies to most films and even network shows. You want to watch a new season legally ASAP? Subscribe to Netflix, otherwise wait it out. Also, I'd hardly call 4 months from air date to BD a long time.

People are either subscribing to Netflix or they're not. It's not just for one show. You're claiming they don't profit form the BD? Let's see. $30 BD or $7 subscription, assuming someone isn't exploiting free trials. Yeah, makes so much sense not to sell the damn BD. I don't stream because I live in an area that's cursed with shit slow DSL. Verizon swears FIOS is coming, but until then other internet access methods flat out work better than streaming.

You do realize Netflix isnt the distributor for the BD right? It's Sony in this case, so Netflx is getting a small fraction, if any of home media sales. And if you don't think airing original programming like this boosts subscriber growth then please do your homework.

I'm not saying it doesn't boost growth. I'm saying it's not the sole purpose for the subscriptions. People either buy the blu-rays or they don't. People either watch Netflix or they don't. If anything, a large portion of people who stream don't have any interest in the discs so selling them day one shouldn't effect the subscriber base one damn bit either way. This is what pisses me off about the industry. Everyone afraid of giving people options. It's just like theaters. People either go to the theater or they don't. How would releasing movies on disc right away hurt profits? Two tickets at the movies is what, $20 now? How can they lose money by releasing the BD for $30 at the same time then dropping the price later? I'd rather pay $30 for the unrated cut than go sit through an edited ****ing version and put up with some other idiot's kids.
