Default War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: Right after 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment began screening his cut of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Matt Reeves has signed on to direct the third installment of the franchise. This time, he will write the script with Mark Bomback, who scripted the sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, which grossed $482 million worldwide in 2011. The directing deal is done and the writer deals are being worked out right now. It is likely that Reeves will go right into the third film, a priority for the studio.

The sequel is set to debut July 11, 2014, and it stars Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, with Andy Serkis reprising his role as Caesar, the intelligent ape that led the breakout from a lab before much of the human race was wiped out at the close of the first film. The survivors square off against Caesar’s growing army in the second film. The pic is based on the Pierre Boulle novel, and was first turned into a film that starred Charlton Heston in 1968.

Sounds like Fox loves Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

I'm good with this news. I think Matt Reeves is an underrated director. I hope these two Apes films help him break out. This guy is the goods.

Hate when they announce another movie months before the next one is released. Nothing wrong with planning it but kind of takes the wind out of the upcoming one (see Avengers finale). But nice to know another one is on the way.

Yep, I like Reeves quite a bit. Glad to see they like what they see in 'Dawn' and are moving forward with him at the helm. Hopefully he has a great vision of what's to come.

Even though the original is has been my favorite movie since I first saw it in 1968 when I was eight, I'm now 54 and I really can't get excited by this news until I see how DAWN comes out. I thought RISE was good, but could have been better.

Anyway, I hope Fox has plans for a 4K remastering of the 1968 original on Blu-ray with a restored "true" stereo soundtrack. Back in 2008, the PLANET OF THE APES Blu-ray was okay, but I'm not so thrilled with it anymore. The picture is generally too bright, there's still some dirt and scratches, and the sound is re-channeled mono.

Signing the same director before the first film has even premiered shows confidence, an if anything bodes well for Dawn.

Well when they say 3rd movie is coming this means 2nd movie will be good.
I mean The Amazing Spider-Man 2 isn´t even out when they confirmed that The Amazing Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man 4, Sinister Six and Venom movies are coming out(TASM 3,4,5,6).

No, Sony has only confirmed 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3', 'Sinister Six' (Which we all just assumed was 'The Amazing Spider-Man 4'), and 'Venom'. So only three more movies are announced, with two already set in release dates.

Both The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4 confirmed.
Then they confirmed Sinister Six and Venom. So it´s 4 movie.
They already locked names and dates. They can´t change it anymore. So Sinister Six won´t be TASM 4.
Anyway those both movies has nothing left than just make great CGI and release this movie. Looks like those studios already watched those movies and already hired same director and writer to make 3rd movie. I mean most movies waits how it turns out but in here both studios are 100% sure that movies will be great and make another one.

Bit of a different situation though. Sony has to keep making films or the Spider-Man IP will revert back to Disney, and it's been too much of a cash cow for Sony to just let it go.

It has 5 years limit. 1 movie = 5 years = Sony can keep rights but looks like they make movies every 2 years(money ).
I still hope Marvel not get rights or Spider-Man will be ruined too with weak villain and Avengers team.

Anyway about Apes movie i think reboot was good idea.

Yeah, just because they announced so many movies doesn't mean that the second one is going to be good. Although that's what I'm hoping.

Lets not forget the work and contribution of Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to Rise, and I think they are also credited on Dawn. You could sense from their commentary on Rise the passion they had for the Apes series. I just hope Dawn has the same emotion the first film had, I actually had tears in my eyes during watching Rise for the first time.

From what I gather, this one will be a much grittier film. Pretty much a reverse of Conquest with a different ending. I hope to god that this is good, because that means that one of the reboots with Gary Oldman this year will be okay. Also because I love the series (Beneath is in my top 20).

So it looks like Commissioner Gordon survives Dawn.
