Metropolis (2001) - I've been trying to track this one down for a while now. Does anyone know if it was released on Bluray or if it's going to be released?

I'm finding it even hard to get on DVD...

There have only been a couple of Japanese Blu-rays: neither are English-friendly.

There is the rare print of this release running in japan and it isn't quite import friendly as it doesn't have either english voice dubbing, or subtitles. I'm wondering if there's been any updates on whether they'll do another print run and make it available to foreign markets?

I would love for a proper U.S. release of this beautiful movie!

That's all I can contribute to this thread.

Sony doesn't give a **** about anime anymore. They released some of their movies, but then stopped.

To be fair, outside of Paprika, all of Kon's movies and shows have been in an import-lock. Sure hope some distributor out there can resolve that.

Don't know about a US release, but the Eureka disc will almost certainly be B-locked.

A US release would be inferior to a Eureka.

I don't know if Sony is trying to piss people off, but they are releasing this:

https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Memories...et-DVD/125684/

Sony also recently released a 4 series collection of the Marvel Anime they still own the rights to with a re-release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete and the upcoming Kingsgliave Final Fantasy XV movie.

Great news on the Bluray release. Thanks for the update!

I managed to find a copy of this locally on DVD shortly after I started the thread last year. It was a 2 disc set as well. Was really happy to finally get it. But now that it's coming to Bluray I'm super excited!!

I got Metropolis when it came out in the early 2000's and struggled to get through watching it one time. I thought it was pretty awful.

I assume the SteelBook will not be region-free?

Wait for reviews. From what I've heard Sony doesn't demand region locks, so it's all up to the licensee to decide whether it's going to be region free or not.
