No love for this on Blu-ray? It's been remastered in 16:9 HD for syndication and iTunes, but no physical HD release.

Love this show, Netflix US has every season but only seasons 4-9 are in HD last time I checked. I posted some 4:3/16:9 comparison caps, 16:9 came from iTunes, of the first season in the TV Show sections thread:

First major issue, from episode 6 of season 1 "Frank, the Writer":



If there's more room on the other side of the frame, they could easily fix it if it ever comes out on Blu-ray. If not, they'll probably do what WB did with Friends, zoom & crop. Here are comparisons for episode 10 "Turkey or Fish". I was able to do a comparison for the intro with this one. It has been cropped, opened up, re-framed & digitally edited. Look at the cap where the twins pass:



And it seems whoever done the re-mastering for this episode forgot to put the credits in that show after the opening credits. There are no credits at all in that scene in the last cap.

Not to long ago I done a live chat on Netflix asking if they would please try getting seasons 1-3 in HD. Just checked, and now they are!

It's on Netflix, great quality and I can watch it just about anywhere (and I have). I don't need a Blu-ray.

Always physical over digital for me, just because it's on Netflix doesn't mean it will be forever. Same with any other digital version of a TV show or movie.

Yes I have been waiting for blus for this show for ever.. One of the best sit coms of all times.

If popular sitcoms that still are on air can't even get BD releases anymore (Modern Family, for instance), there's no way catalog ones will, unfortunately.

The truth is, genre/sci-fi shows sell best on BD, comedies/sitcoms are some of the worst sellers. I think a lot of this is because sitcoms are generally very topical, and as a result date themselves quite easily.

The only catalog sitcoms I can see getting a BD release in the future are Seinfeld and Sex and the City.

A couple of the older seasons I remember seeing aired in a slightly wider ratio than 1.33:1 but it was still 4:3, then they switched to 1.33:1 and then obviously came the 1.78:1 when 16:9 was the norm.

Does anyone else remember that 4:3 ratio that was a little wider than the 1.33:1 framing?

Didn't get into this until the show was airing after they made the HD masters, so I never seen 4:3 airings. The slightly wider ratio you seen was most like the academy ratio though, which is 1.37:1.
