Default Dreamcast 2 rumors?

What do you guys think about the rumors flying around the net of a DC2. It all started when Sega filed a patent for a "game machine" to be released next decade (possible start for the next-next-gen wars/ PS4, new xbox , ect). What do you guys think?

Well they failed with it, so maybe they'll fail again...I could care less.

Lots of headaches and expenses going into the hardware game again.

Sega is in a good place right now with software development and concentrating on making good-great games.

I guess it's not impossible but I'd consider highly improbable that they would return to the hardware game with a "DC 2" or whatever.

Stranger things have happened, though...

I have mixed feelings about the idea.

I like the idea of Sega entering the mix again and there being 4 systems competing. Competetion gives us good consoles and hopefully decent pricing.

However, there are inevetibly (sp?) things I like about all systems, so throwing a 4th into that mix would only make my longings for other consoles more powerful.

I doubt they would name it DreamCast 2 since DreamCast wasn't all that successful. I imagine they'd release with a new name. They entered the fray with Sega Genesis, they should destroy the competition with Sega Revelation.

I always kind of liked the rumor of them merging/joining forces with one time arch rival Nintendo.

Not to mention the rumor of M$FT buying Sega out before the release of the 360. That rumor started when Sega's Japan Prez stated that Sega was only planning to support the 360 for sometime!!!

That would actually be pretty cool. We've seen a little of that already with their game franchise overlapping. I think if they did that and released a next gen consule with HD and online services they could really give Microsoft and Sony a run for their money. Especially with all their preestablished licences combined into one mega company. That's exactly what they should do.

Nintendo is too arrogant though. They think they're still in the competition on their own. Maybe in the portable world, but the Wii is laughable compared to the 360 and PS3, regardless of how cheap it is.

That was the original XBox. MS paid for their network code (it's the base of Live), their servers, and 7-8 games (JSRF, TJ&E3, Shenmue 2, Panzer Orta, and some others)

True, Sega could be planning a budget system like the Wii.

If that's the case, what a waste!!

If you want to win, you gotta go next-gen.

I don't how this started, but it's awfully retarded. (me rhyming that is)

Hey, the formula worked for the Wii. I think M$FT and SNE have learned their lessons this generation about selling $400< consoles at launch and beyond.

Yeah, they sure did. The lesson is they sell out in large quantities despite people complaining about the price.

BUT.....not as fast as last generation when the XBOX and PS2 spent the majority on their lifespan in the 200 and below range. The original XBOX dropped to 200 in May 2002 following the release.

I'd say definately they're planning some kind of Box that will play their old library if anything.

There isn't room for 3 consoles in the market, let alone 4
