In Japan, Senran Kagura’s Homura and Arcana Heart’s Aino Heart are DLC characters for Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel. However, people who purchased the game at launch received the two for free. XSEED has revealed it will offer the same promotion for the North American release.

People who purchase Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel within four weeks of the game’s release will receive both Homura and Aino for free. These are the basic versions of the characters, and do not include the swimsuit costume DLC. After that four week period, Homura and Aino will be available alone for $5.99 each or bundled together for $9.99. Their inclusion bumps up the number of playable characters from 12 to 14.

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel will come to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in 2016. It offers Cross-Play support and leaderboards, so people on both consoles and face off online.

It seems like Xseed is releasing more games in the west lately. I haven't heard of this one in particular, but more 2d fighters is never a bad thing.

It bothers me that two of the three characters that were meant to be console exclusives ended up being DLC characters. Especially since they should have had more than enough time to add them into the game free of charge due to how long it took for this to be released for consoles. It's great that people who bought the game at launch will get them for free, but for those who don't plan on picking it up anytime soon (me), it's just one more annoyance...

Well games like this may seem to be expensive to license because of all of these characters from various series, but really it isn't that much to localize. Plus XSEED has been releasing Senran Kagura which has good sales for what it is. Corpse Party is another good seller along with Story Of Seasons for Nintendo 3DS. Plus they have titles like Ys which were always good sellers. But of course good sales for a niche company that is, but if it brings more localizations, then I say let them bring more titles if it's benefitting their company.

Oh yeah I'm definitely happy they're doing it, I just meant it was a pleasant surprise to be getting such a decent amount of niche (to an American audience, anyhow) Japanese games coming West recently. This game looks interesting, and I already pre-ordered the ps4 version of Senran Kagura for when it comes out in March.

I'm borrowing a PS4 from a friend and rented this game from the library. I play all fighting games in existence but never been into Examu's stuff. Needless to say, Nitroplus Blasterz is a mixed bag:

Pros:

+Mechanics are easy to grasp
+Soundtrack is pretty good, I like the victory theme a lot
+Sprites are well-animated
+Assist system reminds me of Marvel

Cons:

-Character roster is as niche as it gets, if you aren't into anime or manga you won't recognize anyone
-Too heavy on the needless fanservice, what's the point of having a bouncy Sonico on the menu?
-Single player modes are as anemic as SFV's
-No legacy arcade stick support, the biggest dealbreaker IMO

I don't pay for PS+ so I don't know how the online for this is. Nitroplus Blasterz looks like it could've been so much more, but I doubt they had a big budget to develop this.

Actually, the DLC characters were free for everyone on release week. I added them to my account years ago, and now that I decided to play the game, I was able to download them without issue. It's becoming a trend for fighting games on console (at least the ones published in NA) to offer them for free on release week.
