[Show spoiler]OK, take this with grain of salt, but given that the last hint turned out to be legit, I'm pretty sure that this one is as well. Perhaps Walter could shed some lights on this.

Anyway, after Argento's Opera, it looks like CR may have been releasing The Church too. It was hinted at by the CR on their FB page.

This would be the first worldwide Blu-ray for the film, right? Can't wait. Would like to "complete" my Soavi Blu-ray collection with The Sect as well. (I realize he has some movies after Cemetery Man but they appear to mostly be TV movies; I've only seen Uno bianca which was a pretty good cop drama.)

For a film that was originally conceived as a third installment of the Demons series, this really goes above and beyond with a lot of atmosphere and artiness.

I believe so. I haven't watched this one yet, but as a HUGE fan of Dellamorte Dellamore, I'm definitely looking forward to.

Dellamorte Dellamore is easily the pinnacle of his career and one of the finest horror movies ever made, especially since calling it a horror movie almost doesn't seem right as it covers such a wide range of genres and moods. To be completely pretentious for a moment, it's the sophisticated man's zombie movie romcom surrealistic dark comedy arthouse horror film.

His earlier works clearly were leading up to it but none are as magical in my opinion. The Church practically rivals its unique ambience, though.

Unlike Opera, I adore The Church. If CR does in fact have it, here's hoping for an immaculate transfer, as it's one of the most beautiful films out there. As far as I'm concerned, it's also easily the best of the (unofficial, if you will) Demons trilogy. It's a shame The Sect has never received a proper release in the U.S. While better than nothing, the overseas DVD is washed out and doesn't do the photography justice. It's the unsung gem of Soavi's filmography. Not quite as good as his masterpiece, Dellamorte Dellamore, but on par with The Church and certainly superior to Stagefright. I love watching it back to back with Damned in Venice, which I think is it's spiritual soulmate.

Between this, Fatal Games, The Slayer, Screams of a Winter Night and Eye in the Labyrinth, CR has some of my most wanted titles. Fingers crossed that all get top tier treatment (and that the issues holding up the latter two can be rectified).

Wow, Bill is really on a roll! If Code Red can continue to give us crazy forgotten flicks and do a great job with some of these bigger-name titles, it will be the best of both worlds - especially if they're more widely available through Screen Archives.

Here's hoping for good things to come!

Always been a fan of Michele Soavi's The Church, never been a fan of Code Red, so if this happens and they drop the ball, I'm rolling up to the CR Headquarter like the police station massacre in The Terminator.

I liked The Church so I'll definitely be picking it up, it has one of the coolest atmospheres ever. Still, it had the potential to be so much greater. When the crap starts hitting the fan, most of the people don't react, either with the situation or with each other except for a few.
[Show spoiler]Woman gets impaled one second, people just chilling out on the pews a minute later not too far where it happened like nothings going on. In Demons 1 & 2, the people get their sh*t together and at least try to band against the evil.

As excited as I am to hear of a release of The Church; I really wish there was more of a definitive indication. Great news from Code Red if true.

Code Red has really stepped up their game with these last 2 announcements. I can't wait to check both out. I watched "The Church" for the first time about a year ago and wasn't too impressed, but I'm happy to pick this one up and give it another spin if for no other reason than to support the continued release of these mostly forgotten Genre gems.

Didn't Don May Jr. look into who had the rights and confirm that CR has Opera. I believe he mentioned CR had the rights until 2020.

Yeah he was advising Code Red today to reach out to Vudu and tell them to take down both films from their digital service since he now owns the rights, so all signs are pointing towards Code Red having both.

I always took
[Show spoiler]the weird non-reactions of the people in the Church to be a sign of them becoming "infected" by the evil in the place
.

Also, Michele Soavi's original director's cut was supposedly some 20-minutes longer, but Argento had a heavy hand in the editing room and recut the film. I would think Soavi's original cut might make a bit more sense in this regard. It's too bad the Italians seem to be terrible at taking care of their film elements, because the cut footage is likely long gone and never to be seen again, unless Soavi kept a video copy of the workprint. Then at least we might get a glimpse at what could have been.

Chris
