United Kingdom Sinatra: 100th Anniversary (2 November 2015)

Does anybody have information about this set? I thought maybe it was an international release of the Frank Sinatra Collection that's available in the US, but this is only a three disc set whereas that one is five discs. Perhaps Anchors Aweigh, On the Town, and Robin and the 7 Hoods only?

I don't think WHV have Guys and Dolls over here but I could be wrong. Thought it was with MGM or Sony, so that might rule that one out.

Either way, if these are new to the UK Frank BDs then I'll be all over this set

Well the other two movies in the US box, Ocean's 11 & Guys & Dolls had already been released, so Warner took some stick in including them in the box, as people who already had them & who wanted the box had to double dip, so I suppose this is better. There's plenty of reviews online, I have Robin & The Seven Hoods & it looks great.

No, Guys & Dolls is Warner, but they hardly release any catalogue titles over here, but they're all multi-region & easy to import (I imported Guys in 2013 when it was released). Ocean's 11 is quite cheap on Amazon UK Marketplace.

There is no logical reason for supposing that the 3 films in the UK set will correspond to the most recent US released set of 5, minus the two previously available singly THERE - Ocean's II and Guys and Dolls - given that NONE of the five has ever been released HERE. It could just as easily comprise Ocean's, Guys, and any one of others, and is perhaps more likely to do so in view of the widely-panned rubbish encodings Warner's has given to Anchors Aweigh and On the Town, whilst that accorded to Guys and Dolls is exemplary.

The OP was correct, it's a 3 movie collection; Anchors Aweigh, Robin and the 7 Hoods, and On the Town.

From the News section: Frank Sinatra: 3-Film Collection Blu-ray

Quote:
...this collection includes newly re-mastered releases of Anchors Aweigh, On the Town and Robin and the 7 Hoods for the first time on Blu-ray.
Fantastic! Never did I think that the UK would get remastered discs, but I'll definitely be picking up this set instead of the US version! Now just to keep an eye out for bargains on the standalone releases of Oceans 11 and Guys and Dolls...

- Press release for the UK set: Frank Sinatra: 3 Film Collection.

- Press release for the US set: Frank Sinatra 5-Film Collection

Wishful thinking on my part that the UK set would somehow be different, but it does appear that these will be repackages of the already available discs.

And the French set is 4 films. I didn't think there would be 2 different set, but 3 different sets ?

Didn't know about that either. Thought there was only one Sinatra Blu-ray Collection worldwide thus far, hence the research into this forthcoming UK release in the first place.

If the Dracula set hasn't shipped yet, it might be cheaper to cancel and combine orders

Yes, same here until yesterday. Actually, the French set was originally sold as a 5-films set (hence the mediocre reviews on Amazon.fr when people realised it was missing a movie). I guess there might be issues of ownerships and that the missing movies are not with Warner in the countries concerned.

Due to using similar packaging to the Exorcist set, mine was squashed. It was slightly worse, but I've managed to make it look not so bad. Surely they could've used better packaging

I actually don't mind the packaging. All my 15mm amarays get transferred into 11mm cases, so anything that already comes slimline is OK in my book.

Also helps that I've been lucky in neither this or the Exorcist sets being squashed!
