Default Walmart in bed with HD-DVD

Just seen a commecial for walmart and some 24 year old total geek, begging his parents for the new "Bourne" movie on HD-DVD.

Walmart is now on my "DO NOT SHOP HERE" list.

Go Blu or I'll go elsewhere, that's a messge for all retailers!!!!!

I think your title is a little misleading... so Toshiba paid Walmart to have a commercial? Either side can pay them for commercial. Nothing to worry about.

How about the Walmart 80GB ps3 one day sale with 15 free blu-ray movies, easily the best deal of the season. LOL Walmart is not in bed with HD-DVD

I have seen Blu-ray only Wal-mart television commercials as well as heard Blu-ray only Wal-mart radio commercials. It is only fair that the losing HD format be able to sell the rest of their stock....

Super Walmart near me has a small selection of about 30 titles in HiDef but it's like 25 blu vs 5 red.

oh, and they're all MSRP .

Did his parents tell him no? Hah.

I have like 5 Wal-Mart stores and none of them have enough of a HDM section to even matter. If I were going to buy HDM, that's the last place I would go anyway. Amazon, BB, and Fry's always have them beat on pricing from what I've seen. Besides, their numbers don't even count, and for good reason.

Wal Mart is not in bed with hd dvd. I work for one and we have fewer titles for hd dvd than for Blu Ray. I've seen a few A3 players come in, but that's it. We actually sell more BD's than hd dvd's. Plus I get certain titles with my discount which helps the wallet. Otherwise, I got to Best Buy or Fry's.

The commercial he saw is also duplicated with a female asking for Harry Potter. Same house, same parents, same poster locations in the house. What has changed is the posters show both the Blu Ray and HD DVD covers. No regular DVD.
The Borne movie is not available on Blu, thus no Blu Ray in the ad.

Walmart is the biggest ***** in retail. They'll jump in bed with anyone if they think they'll make 20 cents by doing so. BTW, I did see both Blu and HD DVD ads recently.

News flash:

All retailers sell advertising space in their TV and newspaper ads

It happens every day of every week

Was at Wal-Mart today in fact.

Hi-def movie section is thus:

End-cap, with 2/3 - 3/4 dedicated to Blu-Ray, the rest HD-DVD. Top sign says "Hi-definition movies" with a Blu-Ray logo. No mention of HD-DVD on signage.

Farther back, there is a stack of A3's ($299) with the show model collecting dust. Next to that is a Sony BSPS-300 ($388) with all the HDNA signage around it. There were only two left in that stack.

Then, playing on the "wall o' HDTV's" was the latest extended Blu-Ray (I hate to use this word for fear of being called a troll) "propaganda ad", which I've also seen at Target in their official Blu-ray endcap. It's a few minutes in length, and was mixed in with the other various "Why do I shop at Wal-Mart" ads they play that make me reminisce on times more innocent, like those I once saw in a movie... what was it called... oh yeah "They Live".

So, if Wal-Mart is in bed w/ HD-DVD, my local store isn't listening.

No Walmart is, you can still see blu ray walmart ads on tv too.
If every time Walmart had an ad for a product it meant they were in bed with that products maker than walmart would be <*insert random Paris Hilton or Brittany Spears joke here*>

There is also one with a little girl hinting to her parents she wants Harry Potter and they show both the HD DVD a Blu-ray version. I guess she is neutral and doesn't care which version she gets.
