Default Replacing DVDs with Blu-rays

I have read many posts on this site about replacing currently owned DVDs with Blu-rays and many people here don't seem willing to replace their collections. I now ask why?

1) Everyone on this site cares about picture quality (otherwise why buy into Blu)

2) Those DVDs in your collection, you will be watching them again a few more times in the next 2-3 years and it only makes sense that you would want to watch them in the best quality possible. Unless you don't care about picture quality, but then I ask again, why buy the Blu-ray player if that is the case.

If you don't care about picture quality just buy new releases on DVDs and save yourself plenty off cash.

If you do care about picture quality (which I assume everyone here does). I don't understand why you would only care about the picture quality of new movies you watch.

I understand people with big DVD collections wont be replacing them all at once, but I would imagine that ultimately it would be their goal.

PS: DVDs you never see yourself watching again are an exception.

I know, I always point out the fault in polls. But I must point out this should have been a multi-choice, and not multiple choice.

I am replacing DVD's and hope to have replaced nearly all my DVD's one day, but I am also not rebuying movies I am not likely to watch again.

Maybe I am just being particular, but I view every poll as potential market research, so I try to be more inclusive, and not have "jaded" polls.

Through the experience of buying and watching films in your existing DVD collection you pretty much know which ones you will/will not watch again should you decide to buy it on Blu.

With over 700 DVD's, it makes no sense financially to replace ALL of them. Again, as stated on other threads, I will replace certain DVD's that I absolutely love and/or must have and all new releases will be purchased on BD.

There are some movies that won't be made better for being on Blu-ray. Like, most of them. And no one feels like buying their collection all over again.

In short, don't expect to see "My Dinner With Andre" on Blu-ray anytime soon.

I only buy the movies I really want and will watch many times on BD. There are movies I really love (When Harry Met Sally, Throw Mama From The Train, mostly comedies and some dramas) that I still wouldn't buy on BD even if they came out on the format. I reserve most of my Blu-Ray buying for Action, some Drama (World Trade Center for example), Sci-Fi, concerts and animated movies. I'm cool with comedies and most older titles on DVD with rare exceptions. But I'm also a big supporter of renting the titles I won't buy.

Im going to replace most of my standard DVD's with BD's. Just the ones I feel are worth replacing. Not all, it would cost too much to replace my entire DVD library. However from now on, all new releases I will only buy Blu.

You are missing a choice between #2 and #3.

I'm buying all my new releases on Blu-ray and I'm replacing select DVD titles, but not all of them. I care about picture and audio quality, but I don't care about all of the films in my DVD library.

already started to re-buy everything on BD.
I stopped buying DVD whenever possible. I even delayed High School Musical 2 purchase because of UK does not get BD release
