Ok, don't get me wrong. I love the fact that this show is available on Blu-ray. I know that it is an accomplishment that a studio is sticking with putting their TV shows out on Blu-ray.

But I find it a little absurd that they can't stay consistent in their releases. Hell on Wheels is one of the very few releases that the slipcover has different art than the sleeve art included in the case. Now, Season 4 is released and there is no slipcover?

Oh, well. I am happy to have it and I will look forward to Season 5 part 1 and part 2 when they are released on Blu-ray as well.

I'm annoyed and relieved at the same time. I thought it was just Target not having the slipcover. Tried two different Targets and no slip. Best Buy was sold out. I wish they put it in a slip but I'm glad that I'm not the only one without one. Have a good time watching the show.

You do the same. This will be the second run through for me, but I still think that the quality on the blu-Ray is leaps and bounds better than Cable HD.

Season 5 is off to a slow start for a final season, even if it is just Part 1.

Glad I found this post. I was a little upset that I didn't have a slipcover. I thought amazon gypped me.

According to this post, Best Buy copies have the slip. My copy from Amazon did not.

I call B.S. on that post. I really doubt they made two different releases for this set. Every season before has used the key art for the slip and newly created art for the case art. With the copies found at Amazon and Target, the key art is being used as the case art.

Honestly, I chalk it up to someone who maybe overlooked the fact that it had a slip cover or not, or they were looking at the wrong season. Again, I highly doubt EOne would go to the trouble of making a Best Buy with slip cover exclusive.

I will believe it when I see it, but I am not holding my breath that a slip exists for Season 4.

I've just gotten into this show on netflix. I watched season 1 and now I'm on season 2. I don't know much about Entertainment One. Do they usually release complete series? I know the show is ending so I was wondering individual seasons or wait and see if a complete series is released?

I have not had a chance to check my local BB, but it's worth a trip. A manager there was really cool when I ordered The Cat Returns from Amazon that arrived slipless, and just gave me a slip. So this could be a case of Amazon not getting slipcovers again?
Actually it wouldn't surprise me if this becomes more widespread with Amazon as I'm sure they receive a huge amount of "damaged" slipcover return/replace requests. Maybe they are starting to just sell slipless copies?

I agree with you. The "slips" for the previous seasons were more like a case & were packaged INSIDE the plastic wrapper. The blu ray case slid in to the side of the box (slip) rather than the standard slip cover that slid over the case from the top or bottom. Also, on the season 5 set, there's a sticker on the wrapper advertising the current season date & start time. If there were slips, my the sticker on the inside wrapper?

Like ericmylad stated above, I don't think this is a situation where Amazon is sending copies without slips.

2) The case art matches the key art for the season. This is the same thing that the past 3 seasons have done, except it has been on the slip box art. Not the inner case art. All past seasons, the case art has been new imagery for the release.

3) Target also is releasing this without a slip box. Since both Amazon and Target are selling the same style of release (no slip box) and Best Buy hasn't advertised an exclusive version at all, I doubt Best Buy for a different product run.

When "Whiplash" was released, the copies without slipcovers had the same sticker on the shrink-wrap that was on the slipcover. It happens.

I'd be surprised if this came with a slip at BB or anywhere else. My example of TCR had stickers on the shrink wrap. So that's really not an indicator one way or another.
Basically slipcvoers were designed for the first run batch, and in some instances still are. Since slips have gained in popularity studios wisely made more so people would buy more.
Until I see people selling HoW S4 slips here or eBay, I will assume that it doesn't exist.
Which brings us back to the original point: a damn shame!

Does anyone know the story on the Season 5 bluray release? Some sites say, "complete fifth season," but the artwork here and on Amazon says Season 5 Volume 1 (and this is for the US release. Australia already released Season 5 Volume 1 on bluray)

My guess would be there will be a S5 part1, and a S5 part2 BD release. I hope I'm wrong, as I'm not a big fan of AMC splitting their seasons when they air and then have that carry over to the home video release.

I have no idea, and I'm the one who added the entry to the database. The info that I saw the UPC number, etc. from usually reliable sources said Complete Season, so I named it that first. But of course no one person or source is 100% reliable. And all the artwork I've seen mentions Volume 1, as you say.

I hope they don't split them, but of course they might. I guess we just have to wait and see, I'm sure confirmation will come eventually.

This release is for the first 7 episodes of season 5 that aired last year. The final episodes will be released separately. I'm sure there will also be a complete series set as well.
