Default EngadgetHD is HD DVD biased ?

I just read this news, and I fell off my chair ! I just can't see more "pro-HD DVD" news out there on "reliable" HD website...

http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/12/10...ber-11th-2007/

Isn't this a bit pathetic ?

Everytime I go there, I sense that, too. I'm glad someone else also has the same view as me regarding Engadget being Pro DUD.

Default First post -go easy

Ive not yet got any HD stuff yet so do not have any bias.

However ive been doing a lot of research over the past few days, and ive gotta say that Engadget is very HDDVD biased. I used to think it used to be a brilliant site before. But this "war" has definately made this site one of the casualties.

By the way with I will be getting a PS3 as pressie this year

Wow, that is some pretty blatantly HD DVD biased. Haven't they noticed that pretty much everything Warner has released has been selling more on BD? I guess not and Don't they realize that all those supposed 90,000 cheap HD DVD players did not have 300 included. How many of the ones have they sold that did have it included? Hmmmm. 300 BD has pretty much kicked the HD DVD versions ass no matter how you look at it. I guess all those other BDs and HD DVDs they released don't count.

One of the editors frequents this forum, and he seems (to me, at least) to lean Blu... if you look at the comments on the posts though, they're always pro-HD-DVD. The only Blu supports I ever see post comments are generally lunatics.

Edit:
Yes, that is Ben... the guy who visits here.

Also, I can't say I think the post is slanted one way or another. He mentions that fact that they can't wait to see how the HD-DVD version compares to Blu-Ray... would you have been happier if he said "we can't wait to see how well Blu-Ray version sells compared to HD-DVD"... that wouldn't make sense now, would it? Because Blu-Ray always outsells Hd-DVD!

And the comment about 300... well, I just thought that was funny. 300 is one of the BOGO deals on amazon.com this week. You gotta laugh sometimes, it helps the days go by...

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but when I read it, this makes it sound like they are pro HD DUD:

"...it's because we can't wait to see how the red version of Harry sells against the blu..."

Usually, a camp-neutral site might word like this instead:

"...it will be interesting to see which version of the Harry Potter movies will sell more..."

To me, it was clear that the writer was rooting against Blu Ray and pro DUD.

Just my feelings, though

I thought it was just me that noticed how Pro HDDVD their comments to the articles always are. It's like they're pulling for HDDVD to win but are okay with either format.

Thanks for the welcome.

No games. I just want it for the blu-rays. Ive just ordered 300, Spidey 3, POT 1,2,3, and FF4 2. Should look good on the new Panny plasma we're getting as well.

Wow that is biased. They make it too obvious when they write "hopefully this", "let's hope we see that..."

I think that site is where Rob Enderle posts, he is definitely one of the biggest FUD-spewing, uninformed "journalists" on the internet. Google him, and you will find some really "interesting" articles.

So I am reading too much into it lol.

He's blu alright:

http://bjdraw.com/2007/03/16/why-i-c...he-format-war/

I guess just kinda weird the wording he chooses. But hey, this is a blog, not a thesis paper, so he can write whichever way he wants :P

His posts on Engadget definitely don't reflect a Blu bias, that's for sure. Almost every week it has some weaselly comment about HD-DVD. Just go to EngadgetHD and look over on the "Breaking News" tab to the right. The headlines from months ago are still there. "Xbox 360 HD DVD player stoops to $129, Spider-Man 3 didn't break any records on Blu-ray its first week, 90,000 HD DVD players sold in one weekend." Doesn't really seem balanced from what I've seen.

I'd love Ben's opinion on this, if he stops by here and can reveal his identity.....

I'm really hurt by your comment :*( TAKE THAT BACK! lol jk

It could be that the impression of the site made me think that it's pro-DUD, just because comments ppl leave are pro-DUD...bah whatever we know he's blu let's just end it hahaha.

We should all be sure to check out what this guy is saying after the numbers are released. I hope Warner gives us some numbers too, because they will be far more telling.
