Not a fan of the style. I liked the more anime look of the older games.

It has lost it's charm of the last 2 games from looking at the trailer. I really hope they don't focus on the social aspect as the main part. Making the characters look more human takes away from the cartoony style.

This is still a day one purchase though

Still excited, but where are the ninjas? The dinosaurs? Where is Kratos and Kat? Like coMa said, the characters look too much like Miis.

I actually think expanding it beyond merely playing golf might be a decent idea. Having a resort mode with a few mini-games might be a decent way to give the game some variety. But I'm not in love with the new style.

I'd be surprised if Microsoft doesn't sue for Sony stealing the art design for the avatars.

Getting rid of the anime characters has killed this for me.

It hasn't killed it for me, but yeah, it doesn't seem as charming. Like anything, I'll wait until the game comes out to judge it, but I'm less excited now than when they first announced it. The 10-minute gameplay reveal did a bit better job of selling me than that trailer, though.

p.s. They still look way too much like Xbox avatars...

Surely there'll be an offline mode where you can play without a bunch of folks walking around the course, right?

The character designs were never a draw for me, so as long as that classic HSG gameplay is intact, I'm excited for this.

I have to say though, I never thought that what the previous games were missing was the ability to drive golf carts. That just seems like a weird, pointless addition.

I'm finding it funny how they're only focusing on the online side of the game for all of the promotion they are doing. Hopefully there is still a single player mode where you unlock and play different characters.
I'm also a bit concerned when he said they're "Hoping for a 2016 release".

I love the Hot Shots games, so hopefully this ends being as fun as the PS3 entries. Played "Out of Bounds" religiously, then my PS3 croaked. At the time "World Invitational" was only on Vita, but picked up a PS4 on black friday and noticed it had been ported to PS3 and was available on PS Now. Using a LAN cable, it was a playable experience, but still think my timing would be a bit better on a local machine. Used up my 7-day PS Now trial though, infuriating that's there no reasonably priced way to access the game from PS4. PS Now membership or rental fees are ridiculously overpriced compared to being able to download the game outright and own it for a one time charge on the PS3. Not about to splurge on a used or refurb PS3 though.

This is on the event stage and playable on the show floor at TGS so we might be getting a release this year or early next.

Good God didn't they show this like 2 years ago? And it's still not going to be ready until 2017? SMDH! I've never seen game development this slow overall. I just don't get it. The X86 architecture was supposed to make game development faster and easier but it seems like games take longer to make, face more delays, and see more post-launch patches than any generation before.

On the positive side, the game does look fantastic. I like the contrast of the realistic environments with the cartoon characters.

They announced the game at TGS 2015... A year ago...

Is there any kind of way to play a Japanese release in a North American ps4? I already know the answer to this, I'm just hoping I'm wrong. Maybe a Chinese release could work?
