Default Veronica Mars

Does any one have any idea if this has any plans on being released in the near future this was one of the best shows of the early 2000. It was relased by Warner but are they just focusing on movies at this point.

Tv series do not seem to be studios main concerns at the moment, but you will probably see it years down to road.

That's unfortunate because that's mostly what's on my blu-ray wish list. I want Veronica Mars, Buffy, Angel, All seasons of Smallville, Supernatural, Kyle XY, Wildfire, How I Met Your Mother, Charmed, Dexter, Ghost Whisperer, Las Vegas, One Tree Hill, OZ, Popular, Roswell on blu-ray. That's just off the top of my head.

I doubt you'll ever see Buffy on Blu-ray. Angel maybe, since it's all widescreen, and went HD post in season 3

Veronica Mars on blu-ray would be really nice. My Veronica Mars, Buffy, Angel and Arrested Development DVD sets are all banged up from me forcing all my friends to borrow them so they could watch the best damn shows on TV. I would love to replace all these sets with their beat up covers on my shelf with sparkling new Blu versions.

Excellent show. Unfortunately, due to the ratings, they had to cancel it. This also means it's not going to be coming to Blu-ray for a LONG time.

I have the DVDs, and they're pretty low quality PQ wise.

Due to the low ratings, the show never got that much love on the DVD front. Although the "pilot" of Veronica Mars becoming an FBI agent was very interesting but also heartbreaking since we will never see it realized.

The first season was presented on DVD in 4x3. Was it filmed in 16x9?

I already own all 3 seasons on dvd but will gladly repurchase them on blu. It's a fantastic show. Like many others though, I don't see it happening for quite a while.

I held off on buying the latest VM and "Supernatural" sets waiting for a HDM release. I held off on all the season sets of HIMYM for the same reason.

In fact, other than the first seasons "October Road", "Friday Night Lights", and several older series I bought, I've been holding off on TV-on-DVD releases due to eventual HDM releases. The bolded titles above are series I'd buy in a second, with the orange being series I'd pick up eventually.

That being said, other than the two series WickyWoo mentioned, "Charmed", and "Popular" were filmed in 4x3 SD... so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you...

I have been somewhat confused on things. I read in a previous buffy thread about how they can go back to the original master and reframe it for 16x9. Not sure if that is true. I heard that if it is, that they would only bother for titles that would sell well, especially for shows where they have to redo the fx

I've never seen Veronica Mars so I just confused what you were talking about with that show Veronicas Closet..haha.

Anyone see that show, Kirstie Alley was in it I think and maybe Kathy Griffin (or someone similar)....tell me that's not good TV.

Anyways, I'm glad that's not what you were requesting on Blu.

HD-DVD can have Veronica's Closet exclusively.

No. They wanted to, but the network wouldn't go for it. And correcitn, season 3 is when WB went HD and started letting them broadcast 16:9. They went HD post in season 2 (5 for Buffy)

Joss has stated many times that he desires Buffy to only be seen 4:3, as they always framed for that. The European 16:9 versions have just dead frame on either side with them bunched up in the middle

You know, it would be quite nice to see Buffy in 1080p. I imagine if they still have the negatives, they should be able to re-master the whole thing. But that would cost a fortune just for a Blu-ray release. Star Trek has a bigger following, so it would be worth the gamble for Paramount, but not for Fox.

The first 2 seasons of Buffy were filmed on 16mm while they started filming the show in 35mm in its third season.

Good catch, I knew that about Season 3, but didn't think about it.

Ironically, some reviewers prefer the European 16x9 versions even with the wasted space. I'll spring for the R2 DVDs one of these years...

"Firefly" on Blu-ray... make it happen!

Veronica Mars is produced in the Super 16 mm film format. Hammer protects for the 16:9 frame, since the show is broadcast in some places in the wider aspect ratio. He says the producers give him a relatively free hand in crafting the look. The rotating roster of directors concentrate on story plot and acting, while Hammer keeps an eye on the visuals.

He shot Wonderfalls! That was fantastic too

This is probably an old article though, seasons 2 or at least 3 were broadcast HD I believe. I didn't have HD at the time so I couldn't see for sure.
