United Kingdom Zoom - online retail store

Saw this mentioned. A 20% signup discount.

But has anyone used them yet? What's packaging and delivery like

They don't have a healthy list of upcoming titles. Weird. Some for Jan 16 but not all of November/December 15 showing. Odd?

See free delivery is 3-5 days, which although brings my MI5 and Straight Outta Compton down to £13 & £10 I'm still in a dilemma. £7 cheaper then Amazon now, both titles I expect to drop and give me a £3 save. But a weeks wait.

Anyway, please share your experience. Have you had to contact CS yet for any reason. Are the Zavvi or more Amazon

I've only used them through eBay and Rakuten and never had a problem with them. They used padded envelopes.

I think they are owned by Universal & Sony so titles will be Universal, Sony and Paramount.

I ordered Jurassic World from them via Rakuten, was dispatched the Friday before release and arrived on the Monday.

Right. Thanks. Yeah they reminded me of Rakuten with the yellow price blocks.

Surprised them they don't have Bad Boys 1/2 set to order, which would take a nice 20% hit

Do they take Payment up front or on dispatch?

All payment upfront. Pre-ordered iems dispatched well before release date, in stock items received in 2-3 days from dispatch. Standard Amazon type cardboard mailers.

No complaints at all, quite the opposite.

Did they charge you the full £20 for Terminator ? I ordered £100 worth the other day & got £20 off.
Looks like they have charged me £20 for Terminator Genisys 3D so I can only guess the discount will come off as the other 4 orders are released/dispatched, with the last item being free.

I paid with Paypal, so the correct amount came out right away.

Put in my first order with the site, amazing how many hoops I had to jump through. Only a 10% code now, but still a decent discount on the DS9 Complete Series DVD for £59.75 (inc first class post).
I wanted to use Paypal, but the site seemed to be caught in a loop where all it would do was re-add my delivery address. Ended up just having to use my card, which thankfully worked first time. Although the confirmation screen took an uncomfortably long time to process, hopefully I won't wake up tomorrow to multiple DS9 orders at £60 each.

Probably just a temporary bug in the site, but of course it happened today

I just placed an order on their site but my card has declined 4 times but have still been charged £1 each time even though it says your transaction has been declined. There is plenty of money in my account and i've triple checked that i typed my details correctly. I've not received any order confirmation either. Does anyone have any ideas?

The £1 isn't an actual charge it is a verification your card details you gave are genuine. They do this on pre-orders same as HMV Online. Some hotel chains which need room guarantees do the same. It is only a charge against your credit limit and the actual payment will be taken when the pre-order is released and they ship.

Unfortunately this process can cause problems as the card provider can view this as a fraud attempt to verify card details are genuine.

Not had problems with Zoom but with HMV whom as I said use same system they always and repeatedly decline my Amex card despite saying they accept them. Then with Visa and MasterCard they only accept 3 separate orders in a 12 to 24 hour period. Any more get repeatedly declined as they block for fraud. Have spoken to Barclays my bank and no issues with them it is all the fault of HMV and I think it's WorldPay who are their online card processing provider but complain to either and they just say tough nothing they can do.

All I can suggest with Zoom is try a different card with a different bank or use PayPal which I believe they offer.

So should add that as these are £1 holds against your credit limit and not actual charges they should be released from your credit limit in anywhere from 1 day to 1 month depending how your bank works.

They won't appear on your list of payments on the bill only as a deduction to your available credit limit.

Will they not just use Zoom for both ?

Is this the end of HMV Premium ?

Don't Sony also have a stake in it? It's basically the official Criterion retailer over here so it'd certainly be a shame to have to go to HMV or Amazon only to get those, for example.

Oh, shit. I was hoping that Uni would take on Warners' UK commitments, not the other way around. Could spell the end for zoom when I'd hoped that it meant we would get Warners product on there at long last.

Not really, as Universal, Paramount and Sony are more closely related than we think when it comes to home video. Uni actually distributes Sony's product in other European countries and in the UK Uni distributes Paramount's stuff, so it figures that Sony and Uni are closely linked re: zoom and also why Paramount's gear is on there as well. So Warners will be distributing for Universal who'll be distributing for Paramount

they could just swallow up the WB shop and throw it into Zoom, no point in killing off the better known retailer store and going with a lesser known
