Nice art, looks better than the standard 2D and 3D covers. But the German text is a dealbreaker.
EDIT: and no 3D.

Hopefully Target or BB announce something in the coming weeks to go with the EE steelbooks for the first two.

I'm getting super worried. I feel like something should've been announced by now. Unless Terrget is pulling another Age of Extinction stunt and BAM there's a steelbook.

Yes, the 3D steelbook artwork is known for some time already. The 2D one, however, is new.

As am I...weren't they normally released right around Turkey Day. Hopefully you are right though and something just shows up out of the blue.

The Desolation of Smaug EE came out exactly a year ago this day.

All I'm saying is if there isn't one announced on or just before release day of the US standard edition, both of my previous steelbooks are going for sale and I'm getting the boxed set to match my LotR extended edition boxed set.

EDIT: I love how we United States-ians hijack the international threads for these and complain about nothing being said about our country's steelbook.

Just import the German disc and don't look too close on the subtitle

If it were bilingual, I'd have almost no issue with that. But if I ask someone if they want to watch Die Schlacht Der Funf Heere, that probably won't go over very well.

On second thought, that'd be comical...

Just a reminder, the US Hobbit Extended SB releases have in the past only contain a 3D disc, not a 3D + 2D as is my preference. Which is why I always order them from the UK (5-disc set), and their Five Armies is up. Be aware they are jumbos.

That was only for the first one. The second one's SB was 2D only. Neither release was ideal.

Hmm, then the Target exclusive cover art is wrong here because it says 3D. I obviously was unaware since after the first one was not what I wanted I've just stuck with UK for consistency.

Best Buy's AUJ was 3D only, yes. I was able to buy the standard extended edition super cheap and swapped the discs. I sold the 3D discs on eBay in the standard edition case and came out even.

Terrget's TDoS was 2D only, and that was fine by me. I don't know why the image was never changed on here...

If there is a US steelie announced for TBotFA, I'm hoping it's 2D only. If not, I'll just pull the same stunt with AUJ.

I have never purchased a jumbo steelbook and I intend to keep it that way.

Yeah the pic here is wrong, I think it's the UK cover? Anyway, 3D+2D for each movie would've been the best option, even if they are jumbos. I don't mind jumbos as long as they use the black plastic instead of the translucent one.

Either way, I had the Steelbooks but then sold em for the standard 3D versions in Amarays with lenti slipcases, so I'll stick with that for TBotFA for consistency. Just probably won't buy for a while since I don't think Amazon is in any rush to drop the price to something remotely reasonable.

You live by your code, I live by mine. May we only come to blows if one of us mentions MetalPaks.

I'm happy with the individual EE Releases they put out. Great quality slipboxes IMO. I'm banking on the third movie being the same No trilogy set for me

[Show spoiler]

I also have the steelbooks too, but those are just for collecting

I'm officially disappointed in the US retailers and I'm putting my previous two steels up for sale on eBay tonight. I honestly wasn't a big fan of these movies anyway...
