Default Second Chance (formerly Lookinglass, formerly Frankenstein Code) on FOX

Second Chance is about as generic of a title as you can get, but on the other hand, a title like Frankenstein Code promises something that this show clearly isn't. I don't see enough here that will make it last, but you never know.

Quote:
The series follows the life of Jimmy Pritchard, a 75-year-old former Los Angeles County sheriff who was morally corrupt and later disgraced and forced to retire. After he is killed in a robbery at his son's home, Pritchard is brought back to life in the improved body of a younger man by billionaire tech-genius twins Mary and Otto Goodwin. However, despite having a new life and a chance to relive his life and find a new purpose, the temptations that led to his career being tarnished continue to haunt him.

Too bad this wasn't a second chance for Eric Close and Dennis Haysbert.

Oh FOX yet another show you're going to have to cancel rather quickly. So this guy also has like super powers, his body regenerates and he drives KIT from Knight Rider around
Might watch one episode if that. Thanks OP though for sharing.

I liked the pilot enough to watch the rest of the season but I'll still be surprised if it does well enough to get another season.

Not bad but not great either. There's some serious potential there -- most TV show ideas have potential -- but they don't seem to be heading down that route. Plus with the most generic title possible, this show is one and done.

Of course, since it's on FOX, there will always be some loud crybabies on the internet will proclaim FOX to be the killer of all genre shows and that Second Chance was the greatest show ever... since Minority Report and Almost Human.

I saw it tonight. I liked it just like I did for Now And Again too.

I saw the Pilot on demand early before the official premiere last week.

Thought it was good, not great. Has a pretty unique hook with the Frankenstein angle. But, the only drawback was the casting of the lead. Very generic and uncharismatic actor. Liked Tim DeKay from White Collar playing the son, but he seems to be playing almost the same character he played on White Collar.

The twins were interesting.

Of course you know, people are going to complain that it's a procedural crime of the week show disguised as a high concept show.

This show is trying to serve both masters and doing a good job of neither. The sci fi stuff is there, but it's pretty half-baked. The cop stuff is pretty flimsy. Hopefully the sci fi stuff can kick into high gear with Duvall finding out about his father, but something tells me they're just going to go solve a homicide five minutes later.

I wonder if this show would be better served by rotating the two aspects of the show. Lookingglass stuff one week, crime procedural the next, and whatever side isn't the A story would be about developing these characters and situations more.

I guess it doesn't really matter. In the end, this show is one and done.

I remember seeing ads for it before it aired and thinking 'meh.'
This week I watched all 6 episodes on Hulu and I'm really enjoying it.

The Sci-Fi aspect is nice, I think there are too many cop procedural shows out right now, so I hope this doesn't go further down in that direction.

But...this being Fox, and no real 'bankable' star...I see it getting cancelled sooner rather than later.

Don't get me wrong, Tim DeKay has been great in the TWO other series that I remember him from (White Collar and Carnivale) but it's only two and he wasn't the lead in either of those.

It's Fox's lowest-rated show this winter. It's as good as dead.

The sci fi aspect is the most interesting part, but they're hellbent on making it a cop show, which they're not very good at.

If I were doing the show, I'd split the difference. Father-son crime show one week where the twins get character development in the B-plot, then flip it the next week where the twins get the A-plot. Also, this new story arc is kicking in way too late (not counting the twist). This show was DOA the minute they renamed it Second Chance and cut the order of episodes.
