But anybody know if there are any plans on making this a BD???

My Favourite 3 movies of all time. After Star Wars and BladeRunner.

Leone's trilogy is an imperative! I would pay all the distribution costs out of my own pocket to get these movies on Blu Ray, but I know I'm not alone on this one. I just bought The Searchers and was blown away by how it looks. Bring on the good stuff, not the phoned-in modern Hollywood junk.
Try looking in places other than gas stations for your BD selectioins.

Well my friend, that "phoned-in modern Hollywood junk" is exactly the thing that will allow Blu-ray to win. New releases will sell better on a new format than a catalog title. When people go to the stores and see Rush Hour 3, Spiderman, POTC and the like sitting on the shelves in blue cases that is what will make someone say "I need a Blu-ray player, because all the new movies are coming out on Blu-ray." I agree with you about the need for some major catalog releases for Blu-ray, The Sergio Leone trilogy is one of them but we need to strike the right balance between catalog titles and the "phoned-in modern Hollywood junk" to be successful.

GBU on BLU? Yes, please!

Oh wait, MGM owns the right. It might get released in 50 years if we're lucky.

Just calm down. These titles are coming, they just don't have a release date yet. I bet we won't have to wait long for them.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the quantity of good catalogue titles we have on BD already, this early in the format's existence, and with a format war on top of it. The Leone films deserve top-notch releases, and I'd rather not have them rushed or compromised in any way.

Any news on this? I watched this movie again on DVD today. Not a single dull moment.

Check my gallery for pics from the movie that I took.

I'm also sick of seeing such an imbalance between new films and catalog titles. I won't buy junk just because it is high-resolution junk.

I don't mind waiting for my favorites to be done right on Blu, but I do wish the studios would share more information about what's in the pipeline. At least then, you'd know that your wait is not in vain.

Maybe there will be an Eastwood box set now that he's announced his retirement from acting.

No...I didn't realize there was an Eastwood box set on Blu. I knew about Dirty Harry, but for me the Leone westerns are more important.

Eastwood has announced his retirement from acting after each film he has made for the last 15 years...

I don't see why some have to insult new or old movies. They both have their good and bad titles...

I do wonder about some of the titles that are released on blu-ray. I suppose they sell and rent but I get impatient waiting for some of the movies I would like to see like Lawrence of Arabia or Dances with Wolves or Alien or GBU.

I don't mean to insult new movies, if you're referring to my post. I'm just frustrated. There are a few gems that come out every now and then. I loved Zodiac, TDK and everything Wes Anderson.

But there is a dearth of catalog titles. How many Hitchcock classics are on Blu? None. Leone? Zip. Bergman? Zilch. Two of Kubrick's best movies are still not on Blu, two of Coppola's masterpieces not on Blu. It gets frustrating for fans of classic movies.

It does suck. I honestly don't know what the studios are waiting for... the mores Blus on the market the faster it will take off.

I'm sure tons of people would get the movies you mentioned and other classics like Gone With The Wind.
