Disney The BFG 3D Blu-ray (2016) [Region Locked / Free]

The BFG was released on 3D Blu-ray in a variety of countries, with most editions locked to Region B. The Dutch and Indian editions are apparently the only ones that are region free.

The BFG, The BFG, De GVR, Le BGG, Il GGG, The BFG

Doesn't show us much but it should be a good movie with the talent involved. The glimpse of the BFG gave me Jack the Giant Slayer vibes.

Big Friendly Giant is BFG in this case.
Big F'ing Gun is for BFG in the game Doom.
Disney must be aware of the comparisons, but went ahead with BFG anyway.

Thanks Dartfrog.
I saw the 3D trailer. A good number of strong 3D shots in BFG's trailer. Looks very promising for the 3D.

The BFG was published by Roald Dahl in 1982 and is a very popular children's book. It was previously made into an animated film. Doom was released in 1993. There are probably more people who associate BFG with Big Friendly Giant than the Doom version, I would think.

True. I'm just waiting for 'The Twits' to get a feature film.

'George's Marvelous Medicine' would also be great! Imagine the 3D possibilities with that one.

Good point and Disney can choose any title that's appropriate for its movie, though pop culture sometimes has more sway than history as the Doom game was very popular growing up and considering how many of us in this forum thought of some other reference when thinking of what BFG might mean.
I read a lot of books as a kid, but this one I missed. The intended audience probably already knows what BFG stands for, so that's why Disney stuck with the title as you suggested. I wouldn't mind if they had it listed in the poster as BFG "Big Friendly Giant", just to let those unfamiliar with it know right away what it means. Then again, it makes people look it up if they're interested enough, so maybe that's a good marketing strategy.
I'll most likely see it in theaters as the 3D looks great so far.

A new trailer. And interesting that this one spells out that BFG stands for "Big Friendly Giant", I bet Disney heard some of the confusion.

Thanks. Pretty sure this is the exact one shown in 3D in the theater, with a nice range of strong 3D and some medium 3D layers. The 3d looks great so far.

I missed the part that says Big Friendly Giant in the trailer. Only saw BFG, though I skimmed through to the end credits.

Looks so much like Jack the Giant Slayer it's unbelievable. Spielberg even steals a shot from that movie when we are seeing things from the little girls perspective as the giant carries her around his home. Jack the Giant Slayer had an exact same shot when the heroine is in a cage and the main giant is carrying her around.
