Default Confirmed: Wayward Pines Renewed For Season 2

WAYWARD PINES RENEWED FOR SEASON 2

Quote:
The series will return sometime in the summer of 2016 for another ten episodes, according to David Madden, president for FOX Entertainment.

Executive producer Shyamalan will still be part of the project, but showrunner and series creator Chad Hodge will not be part of season 2's production, Variety reports. Mark Friedman takes over Hodge's place, according to WeGotThisCovered.

Season 1 ended with main character Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) dead from sacrificing his own life to keep the town residents safe. It is expected that new faces will join the series.

Madden also confirmed that the story will pick up from where it left off, with the residents of the town struggling to "preserve the endangered human race" while a new character arrives and gets himself involved in the rebellion.

This is great news. Christian Today is reporting that Fox has confirmed Wayward Pines for a second season, picking up where the first season left off.

There is already a thread here:

but considering the old ones name might be time to retire it.

I'm actually hopeful for the second season. But, at least they're going to pick up where the first season left off. It will be interesting to see where the second season goes. But, it's going for 2016 so this is good news. With the crap that Fox has been producing lately, Wayward Pines was one of their better shows. Hopefully, the network execs will leave the producers alone and let them produce and direct the second season with no interference.

Really enjoyed Wayward Pines (though sad about the ending eliminating a very important
[Show spoiler]character
).
Great news to hear it did well enough to start a second season. Can't wait though I'm hopeful
[Show spoiler]the lead will be as cool as the character Matt Dillon played. If the show didn't have Dillon in it, or someone similar in decision making, intelligence and persistence, I'm not sure if I would've been a fan since he was the character I was rooting for the whole show. I hope the son picks up his father's skeptical traits. Nothing better than a hero who can perceive his enemies plans.

It'll be a challenge to offer new twists to the story. When first watching the series, I had no idea where things were heading, but the discovery that there are
[Show spoiler]no crickets in Wayward Pines hinted at a lot early on, that it's not supernatural, but someone is spying on them with cameras in the town.

Well, it does offer a way to expand the story beyond the novels and that's what Blake Crouch always intended, for the fans to come up with their own scenarios on how the story continued. Matter of fact, the author did open up his website for fans to submit their own stories but that they couldn't use any of the characters that were featured within the novels that he, himself, wrote.

They're available internationally. The German edition of Season One release is region free.
