Default Pair of Speakers for $100

Can anyone recommend the best pair of speakers that cost around $100, and can be used as the Side Left & Right of a 7.1 Setup????

For example:

FL C FR

*SL* *SR*

RL RR

Thanks so much!

PS* Prefer that the speakers can be mounted.

What are the other speakers?

If possible you want similar speakers. (A concept called Timbre Matching I think.)

Something like Paradigm Atoms might come close to that price.

Nothing that I can think of that is any good.

Don't flame me for this but I don't understand how people can spend all kinds of money on an HDTV, receiver, disk player then go cheap on one of the most important parts of the experience and that is speakers.

Agreed. Audio is half the equation in home theater. Don't skimp b/c they're "just surround speakers." Having quality, full-range surround speakers adds to the realism. Also, they should be timbre matched to the other speakers in you setup, ie. same brand, same model as your other surround speakers.

What speaker brand do you have for the rest of your speakers? Like others have said, it would be best to keep it in the same series/brand...although, it is not detrimental that the surrounds are exactly the same series/brand as the front soundstage. You can still enjoy your system even if your surround speakers are of a different breed.

I'm sure there are some decent speakers you can get for 100 bucks...not everything must be in the $1000 range to be enjoyed.
