Question Is this more confirmation of Warner going Blu

Wow.......Mike Dunn president of fox made the following comment

Quote:
"The table is probably set for high-def in 2008,” says Dunn. “I think by CES it will be pretty clear there will be one format.”

That comment is buried in the article, but its worth it.

Now, lets start a thread that says - Rumors grow stronger as Fox President says ....

I love Fox. They are a major reason I am Blu as over 25% of my DVD catalog is Fox. Mike Dunn is also quite a trip with all the tough talk about Blu Ray, etc, etc.

That being said, and again I love Fox, Fox has been a LOT of talk. I say to Fox. Good job. Glad you're releasing on Blu w/ AVC and DTS-MA. Glad you got your content "secure", glad you're using BD-J. NOW, no more excuses...show me about 80-100 titles from Fox in HD exclusively on BD in 2008 and I'll be one happy camper.

My next Fox title: Master and Commander on Feb 5, 2008.

Maybe we can get a whole new "rumor" thing going on the Insiders Thread with this. My god, that last rumor thing over there really was mind boggling.

Regardless of what he actually means, it certainly sounds promising, and I like it.

Presidents of company's don't go out and say bold things if they are not 99.9% certain. They look like huge d-bags if they say something like this and its not true. Remember this isn't somebody like rdjam who can hide behind the comfort of his computer screen, this is a very high up, public figure that will have people really pissed if his statements don't live up to what happens. also, i don't doubt for a second that he doesn't know about the wb rumors. now if he knows that wb is staying neutral and makes a statement that certainly implies they are going exclusive, he just pissed off a major studio which he probably doesn't want to do. he wouldn't have made a statement if he didn't know something. he isn't an idiot who makes public statements based off what we know to be rumors, he knows more than we do, and made a statement based on his knowledge, so yest this is more confirmation and it is one of the most important pieces of confirmation next to Silverberg, and Burns in Business Week.

Agree 100% with your sentiments stockstar. That is why I can't understand why this was moved here from the general forum

Agreed! He is in a position to understand future business plans coming down the pike. According to the tidbits of "read between the lines" info that Warner has already released and tried to back peddle on... Its as apparent to him as it is with many on this site already. Back peddling without a flat out denial only means one thing. Thats why its known as back peddling and not correcting the original statement(s) with a 180 direction on said comments. I'ts a no brainer. Warner BD exclusivity in the first quarter of 08.

My My, seems the rock hard stones are hard at work. How come I get the feeling Disney and Sony will say or hint at the 'one format' thing or WB within the next couple of weeks.

Of course, it's all theoretical as he said "Probably". Hrm, this seems to echo somewhat to what the insiders here are saying too....

And he said more than we really know. CES is a consumer electronics show not a media show. So for him to say it will be clear at CES is huge.

[rdjam]This is all Phase Hydra. All of the BD Studio Executives are a part of this conspiracy. This means that clearly WB has already decided to go HD DVD and clearly the BD executives are nervous.

Wait, just a minute. Deep Throat II just emailed me as I was typing this. I have to confirm with my sources (edit by Esox50: this means Amir), but word is Disney is dumping Blu Ray too. Cars is coming out on Triple Layer 51 disc. That's right folks, you heard it here first, Cars is going to be the first TL51 in March, and they are going to do PiP previously unavailable on BD-J (edit by Esox50 - rdjam doesn't know what he's talking about with re: to "BD-J" and dual video decoders).[/rdjam]
