Default Youth (Paolo Sorrentino)

Youth Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

Coming soon to Blu-ray from Fox.

Quote:
Synopsis: From Paolo Sorrentino, the director of Italy's Oscar foreign language winner The Great Beauty* comes Youth, about two longtime friends vacationing in the Swiss Alps. Oscar winning actor Michael Caine plays Fred, an acclaimed composer and conductor, who brings along his daughter (Rachel Weisz) and best friend Mick (Harvey Keitel), a renowned filmmaker. While Mick scrambles to finish the screenplay for what he imagines will be his last important film, Fred has no intention of resuming his musical career. The two men reflect on their past, each finding that some of the most important experiences can come later in life.

*In the United States, The Great Beauty is already out on Blu-ray courtesy of the Criterion Collection. You can see our listing and review of this release here.

Fantastic news. I wonder if Fox will include DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio, since the film has a Dolby Atmos mix?

I have planned on grabbing the Italian release but maybe I will wait for the US release to save a few bucks, looking forward to seeing this.

RiFiFi,

You should avoid the Italian release and definitely pick up the U.S. release. It will have excellent subtitles.

What's so wrong with the Italian BD? I didn't notice anything wrong with the subtitles for the non-English lines.

I am almost sure too. Do you have a source?

So we can add it to the 7.1 Master List.

Couldn't find this at all in stores today, which is disappointing. Best Buy didn't have it for store pickup, but they, at least, are the only ones in my area stocking the Ultra HD Blu-ray titles today, Unfortunately, it isn't in Target, Wal-Mart, or even Barnes and Noble (!) either. I called FYE, and they do apparently have it, but the in-store price is $39.99, and I was told that they don't price match their own web site.($33.98). I know this was a "small" film here, and I know Amazon is always an option, but still, I was expecting to be able to get this at Best Buy or B&N at least, and for something cheaper than list price. I guess it needed more Oscar nominations for that.

Yeah, I wanted this too, but BBY has it for $29.99 online only, I shall pass on this one, I think target has a better price for (also online only).

I had a feeling there would be issues finding this in-store, so I ended up just ordering it with Amazon. It should be arriving this afternoon.

For those who have Apple TV, iTunes is selling the HD digital version for $9.99, with special features. It looks gorgeous and the price can't be beat.

I expect those who know nothing about this director and are only buying it because of the big names involved will be dumping this off faster than it took them to snatch it off the shelf... Used copies for $10 coming soon.

There are several Fox titles I've been meaning to get, including this one. Hopefully a FoxConnect 50% flash sale will be happening soon.

When I went to redeem my digital copy code on Fox's web site, the only options it gave were Flixster, Google Play, and Vudu....no iTunes like it says on the box. Just emailed customer service.
